My mother has always called me "the barefoot contessa". I love going barefeet whenever I can. I find that my feet become more sensitive, more aware and more grounding. I love it!

I too love to be barefoot! I hate the restriction that socks and shoes/boots bring. I have a pair of flip flops that I wear if we are going anywhere long distance as it isn't always a good idea to be barefoot! I get some funny looks going out in the rain shopping with my flip flops on, but I don't care, if I can go barefoot I go!

I barefooted up the Glastonbury Tor last spring, so continously reading this thread is making me want to experience barefooting again.I must confess though I need it to warm up a bit. But I'm getting the urge again.

When I was a kid we went barefoot all the time. And yes there was dog crap, stickers, rusty nails, and snakes. In fact, dog crap was the least of our worries, at least it was soft and squishy :D Just ran our feet under the outdoor tap before we were let back in the house :)

Ok, just my quick two sense worth. I was raised to wear shoes always. We were not even allowed at the table without shoes on. So, now I am barefoot most of the time, at least any time that I am allowed to be. Lol... I wear shoes when society makes me, hee hee...

I must be getting old. We use to in the late 80's early 90's before are karate training, run barefoot around the streets of Milton Keynes for a couple of miles. A couple of years in February we ran up some mountains in Snowdonia to do some waterfall training.
I'm going to do some more barefooting but I must admitt I think I may be a fair weather barefooter.

I love being barefoot too!! I try to be barefoot as much as possible. When it is not practical I use Vibram fivefinger shoes for sporty activities and Lems (http://www.lemsshoes.com/) when I need to be more "presentable"

Barefoot whenever I can. I've shoveled snow barefoot. I have to say, I prefer the summer though.

I had a walk in the snow with my brother on Sunday and we both went barefoot for the last five minutes or so. It was an intense experience

I've only been barefoot in the snow after emerging from a sauna!

I ran in snow in snowdonia with our Kyokushinkai karate club many moons ago before we went under a waterfall.

This thread makes me long to go barefoot! It was a favourite thing for me when I was a child and a young adult. I had a best friend when I was in my 20s who was also a barefoot fanatic. I'm finding it very hard to bond with the land where I now live, and many wise people have told me to go barefoot. The trouble is that my property is quite infested with "goat head" stickers (also known as puncture vine). They are painful to step on to say the least.

At work I wear boots, but it is the military so not much choice there. However; at home I am barefoot ost of the time, as I am pretty keen on the primal lifestyle, but although I am sure they were mentioned I wear vibram five fingers when out and about.

Its lovely to go out walking barefoot, but it must be mentioned that you must build up slowly. Even if you don't feel for what ever reason you can't go on a barefoot walk,I do feel you can experience the earths energy through the soles of your feet by standing barefoot in your garden or park.

I've had some of my best spiritual experiences while barefoot in my local woods, I do yearn to go back out there though. May be this weekend when the weather is meant to be looking good. I haven't done it in so long I want a day after to rest my feet :)

Yesterday I went on my first proper barefoot hike this year. Other hikers were following at a distance and were surprised to see footprints in the snow and mud. When they caught up with my partner and I they looked at me and said "So you're the yeti!" and then called out to their friends saying "Hey, we've found the yeti! There she is!" and we all had a good laugh.

I'm hoping that today my vibram fivefingers will arrive. Since I have a bit of a weightissue, I find I need the extra protection of my soles, since the pressure when stepping on something sharp increases, so it hurts more and there's a bit more risk for injuries.
