Lady in the Water

I feel this was highly Druidic in tone because of the characters including the "chosen one", seers, warrior/champions, dangerous mysterious creatures, magical healing potions and an eagle carrier. I find these are common themes in the European mythologies.

This is a story portraying how those who do not fit in and sometimes the least understood, are often the ones most needed or who have a very special place in the universe. It's a modern tale in the flavor of the (what I feel are the) best fantasy myths like Neverending Story and/or the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

This movie struck me hard. Harder then shyamalans previous work (except Sixth sense).
Especially where the lady in the water tells that one doctor: tell your story..

Many people in my city didn't like this movie. It was badly rated, and yet.. one of the better works of night shyamalan.

Good to point this one out.

Aigeann - I totally concur with your assessment of this movie; I loved it and several times had shivers while watching it. Big thumbs up.

I like it were the girl says, "Do want to know your future?" or words to that effect.
It seems one of the gifts of those with strong water in their auras is that at some point in knowing them they "take you into the future" so you can experience what you can or are meant to become. I get hit with that a lot.
As with one model I did a shoot for who has strong water:

I love your eyes
So quiet and peaceful
A place to let go and forget who I am
Until I awaken to the scent of the sea
And the sound of waves breaking
I see the man I am meant to be walking toward me
Your eyes dream him into being.

I haven't seen the movie Ondine yet. It is released at the end of September I believe. I am hoping it will be good.

I've only seen this once, it's a fabulous film.
My favourite part is when he talks about the healer and says something along the lines of;

"The healer is a person that holds such hope, they can awaken the life force an almost anything."

This film got rave reviews in my house, I think because we love stories here and there is such a high emphasis on the link between the telling of a true tale and magic / the other world.

I really liked the movie and I don't understand why people slam it so hard...maybe because if there isn't titties and violence most people aren't interested.

One thing that really endeared me to this movie was Paul Giamatti's speech impediment. As a stutterer myself I knew how he felt.

i too love this movie, i agree with the points presented here but i think my favorite parts are whats between the lines and what is stated throughout the film.....

1} there are ancients {spirits, gods/goddesses etc} that are still speaking to us and trying to help but we have forgotten how to listen, and thus have lost them to us, but they continue to try, and have not lost hope on us, we have but to believe.

2} there are things out there to balance the system,while not wholly evil, or bad, just the counter part to the good {the natural predator if you will}, in this film they are the wolves made of grass and shadow, but there are also rules and laws of nature that ALL {even the wolves must obey}, and in extreme circumstances those laws can be broken but not without dire consequence as evidenced by the appearance of the monkeys, the enforcers of the laws...
it hints at a much larger, multifaceted, overlapping multiverse in which we don't understand the natural law of things but still in our way play major roles in their worlds as they in ours.

The endearing characters, fantastic story, awesome archetypes, definitely rank it in my faves..
