The Druid Way by Phillip Carr Gomm and The Crow by Alison Croggon, this is the third book of the Four Books of Pellinor fantasy series, a world where bardic schools and colleges exist across the land. A small girl and boy are discovered to be bards of exeptional power and the books chart their adventures with their tutors as evil stalks the land. Good basic fantasy stuff, Dark side, monsters and magic, |-)

Bright Blessings

Has anyone read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the other books in the trilogy?
I have read the first two books and I am waiting for the third one to come to our public library.
The second book The Girl Who Played With Fire is really good and I even liked it better than the first book. I am really excited and I can't wait until the third book comes to our library.
I am also looking forward to seeing the movies, the Swedish version and eventually the Hollywood version.
Every one should read these books by Steig Larsson.
Very sadly just after getting this trilogy published Mr. Larsson died very suddenly at the age of fifty.
There has been some squabbling over the rights for the books. The fighting is between his common law wife and his family. He has some other work that could get published but we'll have to wait until his legal matters are solved.
It is a shame that everyone can't just get along. I'm sure Mr.Larsson wouldn't want his loved ones fighting over him.

Rubbish! (Dirt on our hands and crisis ahead) by
by Richard Girling - a truly scary book about waste in the UK ,and where it goes (into the sea , burnt or buried mostly).

Looking For Jake by China Mieville . A collection of short stories from the master of imaginitive fiction (Perdido Street Station, The Scar , Iron Council) . By turns weird, grisly, funny, odd, creepy, amazing. Great stuff.

At present:

The Book of English Magic (last chapters)
The Real Middle Earth (same..)
Arrowstorm
The English Warbow
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

As you all will notice, I'm cutting down on the amount of books I'm reading at the same time... :innocent:

'How to read the Egyptian Book Of The Dead' by Barry Kemp -which is a bit mad because i've never read The Egyptian Book of the Dead , but always meant to , so this is a book about how to read another book . Groovy. I love libraries , save me a fortune.

'Save Cash and Save The Planet' by Andrea Smith and Nichola Bird , which is inspiring enough , but at times a bit annoying because it assumes that

a) You live in London , or at least a large city
b) You work in an office

and considering what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico at the moment , it all seems a bit futile, makes you want to become a hermit , so luckily for me i'm also reading
'A Pelican In The Wilderness' By Isabel Colegate , which is all about hermits obscure , well known , mad , pious , eccentric , or just hiding. A lovely book , thoroughly entertaining. Get it today , it's a groove.

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole
I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears, Looms but the Horror of the shade
And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

<smug = new toy> I just bought myself a Kindle </smug>

...so I am currently wading through all those Agatha Christie, Ruth Rendell, P.D.James and C.J.Sansom titles that I always meant to read. Currently on The Private Patient (P.D.James), Death on the Orient Express (Agatha Christie) and Dissolution (C.J.Sansom).

I'm almost at the end of The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Great book, surprised I haven't come across it before.
