Hello fellow readers,
I have read and enjoyed the "Druidry Handbook"and the "Druid Magic Handbook"...
I am thinking of buying the "Encyclopedia of Natural Magic" and would like to know what others have to say about it ?

I have only read a collection of his essays, Gaia Eros, but liked it very much. John Michael Greer is definitely an important voice. The only thing I don't like about him is that he can sound a bit too preachy and anti-mainstream at times, but I can live with that.

I've only read The Druidry Handbook and, as my first book on druidry it was extremely informative for me. However I'd have to agree with Father Lynx and add that he also tends to sound very American (which makes sense of course as he IS American).

Although his druidry is quite British....most American druidry leans towards either reconstructionism or RDNA reformed, so I think he is unique in America for emphasizing revival-style druidry...(I guess those are the 3 R's of Druidry!)

That's true. I believe he was first trained by OBOD? He's an in-beween in some ways.

I don' know if he ever did the course, but I think he is one of those druid-intellectual types who is made a Companion of the Order or honourary OBODian Druid or something, for having written books and starting big successful Orders and such.

He did do the course, I think even the first two. I heard him talk about it on T. Thorn Coyle's podcast.

Personally I love anything John Michael writes. He is a great author and great person in general. I have had the opportunity to have a few sit down discussions with him and I can easily say that he is the nicest person I have ever met. Very wise too, but thats to go without saying IMHO. I have his Encyclopedia of Natural Magic and I've found that its a great read. It is worth checking out.

I agree Aengus! I bought it at Christmas and I am enjoying it...
I very much like the simple and clear way he explains his views (whether I totally always agree or not).

I just bought the Druidry Handbook & am looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have so many books piled up to read that it's almost overwhelming.
I guess I'd better get off the computer & sit down with a good book!

If you can your hands on his A World Full of Gods, it's a pretty amazing polytheist apologetic.
