Enchanted Forest Meditation

Postby Dair Ciúin » 23 Jun 2005, 04:16

Enchanted Forest Meditation - Entry

This is a meditation excersise which I created several months ago, designed simply for peace and relaxation.

Before beginning, take some time to find a suitable position, preferably sitting on a comfortable chair with your back properly aligned. Spend a few minutes concentrating on your breathing, allowing all negative thoughts and feelings to slowly dissipate from your mind like rising smoke. Then, when you are ready, step into the enchanted forest and enjoy the magickal beauty of nature!

With your eyes gently closed, picture yourself standing on a natural path covered with fallen leaves, in the outskirts of the forest. Remain where you are, and take some time to picture the environment surrounding you. Ancient, but healthy trees stand on either side of the path, with branches forming a brilliant green canopy overhead, shielding you from the bright sun. Feel the sense of protection which this canopy provides. Notice the bark on the thick tree trunks, and soft sounds of the forest creatures around you. Hear the birds singing, the critters roaming amongst the foliage, and the woodpeckers in the distance. The wind is calm, and everything seems very still. Once you have a clear picture of the forest in your mind, slowly imagine yourself stepping forth along the path.

As you journey further, notice the peace and serenity increasing with every step you take. You are at one with nature, far away from civilisation. Be comforted at the thought that you cannot be disturbed here. Become aware of the life force of the forest around you. Appreciate the trees as living entities, each with a spirit of their own.

You come across a fallen log lying beside the path, covered with patches of soft moss. Slowly sit down on it, relaxing, and watching the surrounding trees. Look up at the canopy above, and see the rays of sunlight piercing through. Realise that time does not matter in this magnificent place, and enjoy the magickal feeling in the air. This forest is very special, and has been left completely undisturbed. Spend as long as you wish sitting here.

When you feel ready to return, slowly imagine yourself standing up and stepping back onto the leafy path. Begin to retrace your steps back to where you originally started, but do not hurry. Feel relaxed and refreshed after your stay here. With every step you take, notice yourself gradually returning to the real world. Once you are back on the outskirts, take several slow breaths and carefully open your eyes. Do not stand up from your chair straight away, but instead spend another couple of minutes reflecting on your experience in the enchanted forest!

Memorial For A Dove:

In the Morning exactly a Year ago Today, I had to Officiate over the Ceremonial Burial of a Dove that Died out front of the Apartment Buildiing I manage.

I was getting out my screwdriver as I was preparing for going out to change some dead lightbulbs around the front of the Building when I noticed a Kyakusama Resident of the Building walking around out front of the Building in his pajamas and a blanket around his shoulders. I quickly went out into the lobby to ask what the matter was and he said that there was a Dove lying Dead out front of the Building on the Rocky Surface. I looked and found that there was indeed a Dove lying there. It was Very Freshly Dead as it was still Warm and Rigor had not set in at all.

There is a Kyakusama Resident of the Building on the Third Floor who had built a Dove Hutch on his Balcony, in which he kept Four Doves. Sometimes he let them fly around the front of the building, which I actually have no problem with as Doves are the International Symbol of Peace, so I concider having some Doves flying around the front of the Building as Great karma for the Building. The Dove lying there was one of his Doves. I became somewhat upset as I concider a Dove Dying on your Doorstep as a Very Bad Sign of Evil Karma.

I then went into my place and got a Safeway Grocery Bag and went out and Gentley picked the Dove up and put it in the Bag, then went in the Building and knocked on the door of the Kyakusama Resident who owned the Dove. No one was home.

So I went into my Place and picked off a Sprig of Eucalyptus from my Sacred Altar and put it in the Bag with the Dove. I then made some Brio Springs Holy Water into a Red Glass Chalice.

I then went out to the South West corner of the Apartment Building and found a set of Three Planters that are grouped together. I then gentley put the Dove down. I then went into my place and got on my Silver Lined Black Wicca Paganistic Cape, picked up my last stick of Marshmellow Moon Jasmine Incense that I had, a Book of Matches, and my Eucalyptus Crowned Blessing Staff. I then went into my Storage Locker next to the Laundry Room and got out a Spade Shovel.

I then went out and selected the Nicest Tallest Planter Pot of the Three grouped together and dug a Very Deep Hole down into it. I then Gentley aid the Dove down into the Hole, with its Head pointed towards the East.

I then commenced Opening of the Quarters Ritual by taking my Holy Water and sprinkled it on the Eastern side of the Pot resiting to myself: "Greetings to the Watchtower of the East, Guardian of the Sacred Element of Air, I welcome you this day for this working of Peace".

I then sprinkled the Southern side of the pot resiting: "Greetings to the Watchtower of the South, Guardian of the Sacred Element of Fire, I welcome you this day for this working of Peace".

I then sprinkled the Western side of the pot, resiting: "Greetings to the Watchtower of the West, Guardian of the Sacred Element of Water, I Welcome you this day for this working of Peace".

I then sprinkled the Northern side of the pot resiting: "Greetings to the Watchtower of the North, Guardian of the Sacred Element of Earth, I welcome you this day for this working of Peace".

After completing the Opening of the Quarters Ritual, I then sprinkled the Dove three times with Holy Water and then pulled two more sprigs of Eucalyptus from my Blessing Staff to go with the one I had already had with the Dove and laid it onto the Dove. The whole time, I prayed for the Dove's Lifes Spirit to protect my Apartment Building from the Evil Negative Energies that caused it to Fall from the Skies. I stood for a few moments, all the while trying to meditate on welcoming the Doves Lifes Spirit to stay with and protect my Apartment Building from this Day on.

I then took the shovel and filled in the hole, and then put onto the Dove's small grave my last stick of Marshmellow Moon Jasmine incense and lite it.

I then Meditated that the Quarters that I openned would become a Tiny Little Vortex centered on the Body of the Deceased Dove, Forever to protect the well being of the Kyakusama Residents of the Apartment Building that I Manage.

I then went down to the Corner Store, which Sells Insence, and Bought a Fresh New Tube of Jasmine Incense. When I returned to the Building, I set a Stick of Incense over the Grave of the Dove at each of the Quarters. I found some Nice White Flowers on a nearby Tree. I took some of the Flowers and placed it onto the Center of the Dove's Grave around the Original Stick of Marshmellow Moon Jasmine Incense, which was still Burning. First Starting with the Eastern Quarter Going Clockwise around to the Northern Quarter, I lit the Sticks of Incense.

About 15 Minutes Later, the Kyakusama Resident who Owned the Dove turned up. I told him about his Dove having Fallen from the Sky and Dying. I then showed him the Grave, which still had its Incense still Burning. He was Very Gratefull that I had given his Dove such a Nice Funeral. As a Matter of a Fact, he still Lives here to this Day.

Since then, a Elderly Korean Couple, who are Kyakusama Residents of the Apartment Building, took to Growing a type of Korean Ethnic Vegetable for themselves in the exact same Planter Pot where I Buried the Dove, and the Vegetable Grew Up Very Strong and Healthy. Since then, the Korean Couple have taken to planting that type of Korean Vegetable in several Planter Pots around the Building, and they all are now Growing Up Healthy and Strong.

Right now, I have a Crop of Green Peas Growing out of the Planter Pot, and those Pea Plants have grown Big and Bushy, producing an Abundance of Peas. Also, the Elderly Korean Couple have also Planted into the Pot along with my Green Peas another of their Ethnic Korean Vegetable, which is also Growing Nice, Big and Bushy.

So in Gratitude to the Dove's Lifes Energies for making my Primary Sacred Grove's Ground Good and Fertile, I am writing this Anniversary Memorial to the Dove in Hopes that it Good Lifes Energies will continue to make my Primary Sacred Grove to be Good and Fertile.

Epilogue:

I showed my Eisteddfod Ritual Entry to the Kyakusama Tenant who originally owned the Dove, and he is Very Happy that I concidered his Dove to be worth mentioning in a Posting of Memorial.

As a Matter of a Fact, he and I got together Yesterday Evening, and lit Four Sticks of Incense over the Grave and did a small Memorial Ritual.

Call to the Maiden of Flame

Postby Dair Ciúin » 27 Jun 2005, 03:53

I elected to enter this in the Ritual category because I see it more as an invocation or prayer rather than just a poem.

Call to the Maiden of Flame
An Invocation to Brighid
Written by Ithilas Aredhel Calanhir

I call out to the Maiden of Flame,
Guardian of the weak, protector of the lame,
Triple goddess, shining bright,
Come to us now and share your light,

Lady Brighid, be with us now,
Smile upon us and lend your power,
In times of darkness, misery and strife,
Remind us the joy and beauty of life,

Let no harm come this way,
Or no dark forces to lead us astray,
Let no sadness pale our days,
So that we may have a cause to praise,

Lady Brighid, be with us now,
Smile upon us and lend your power,
In times of darkness, misery and strife,
Remind us the joy and beauty of life.

These are four short mnemonics I use for breath meditation.
They were created whilst working through the Air part of the Bardic Gwers.
The first is how to breathe. This technique I have developed from bicycling. Yogic breath is usually in and out through the nose. I started breathing in through the nose whilst cycling to avoid swallowing flies :???: Then the explosive out allowed for the energy expenditure whilst exercising.

It is interesting trying the different chants during meditation. The Ommmm is more like a deep throated hum which resonates through the head. The Awwwn-soooooze is a breathe in and out motion which contains a power, if you've ever seen Dune the film the "Muad'ib" is very similar.
The Awen is lovely (no of course I'm not biased  ) as it is a very circular, round motion by holding the ennn in your bowels (try breathing out and tensing the lower stomach muscles) with the breath expelled. It reminds me of a zen picture.

Breathe in, nasally bold
breath hold, in bowelled,
breathe out, oral overflowed;

One.
Om nava Shiva; Pranayama!
Ommmmmmmmmm

Two.
Woden Óðroerir; Galdr ond song!
Aaawwnnn-sooooze.

Three.
Arwen Undomiel; Inspirational!
Aaaa-oooo-ennnnn.
Most dear is fire to the sons of men,
most sweet the sight of the sun;
good is health if one can but keep it,
and to live a life without shame. (Havamal 68)

Entry-elemental mantra and finger meditation

Here's something I use on my moon beads:

Image

Mother I am
Father I am
Earth I am
Sky I am

Air I am
Water I am
Spirit I am
Fire I am

I either count it off on the moon beads (which I keep at home), or on my fingers when I am on the road. I finish off with the peace prayer or the druids prayer for the full moon.

Finger meditation (try it- it is tricky to describe...)
starting with the pinky finger of one hand , counting off with the thumb to index and back; seven steps for one hand; on to the other hand; saying it 28 times for each day of the lunar month takes you across the two hands twice. again, finishing off for the full moon.

It is possible to do either a full mantra on each step, or four or even only two lines.
bright blessed days, dark sacred nights

Lily

I love the Elemental mantra Lily - it's beutiful. It has inspired me to do beads, using different stone for each line of your meditation ( for example green aventurine for Mother, garnet for Father, Earth - jasper, Air - sodalite, Water - pearl, Fire - carnelian, Spirit - rock quartz and so on ) each stone's character relating to the line. You can see it here - http://pioghaid.webpark.pl/kamienie/lily.jpg
Thank you for inspiration :) And good luck ! You have definitly my vote.
