Nobleman in battle-dress

Postby Mika » 25 Sep 2005, 08:13

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE EISTEDDFODERS!!! :o

I didn't know in which category I should post that, but Crow and me agreed on the fact and the descriptions that says this is a category of "viewed" art. So here I post a drawing that is made with a wood burning tool. It looks like a pencil that burns wood like hell, heehee, but still a drawing! It's called a "pyrograph", and this tool is making my days. Pyrography is being felt as a true passion right now. I think this will go for a while! I got started a couple of weeks ago with my own pyrograph. It helps to have some drawing and freehand skills :)

So here it is my first entry for this category:

It is a nobleman in battle-dress from Iona, western scotland. Thirteen century AD. (Original drawing made by David James)

It's beautiful Mika :) I suppose that this technique requires great amount of work. I admire :)

And something from me: "The Falcon"
Image
It is one of a few images dedicated to animals which are my guides and teachers. The falcon together with buzzard and magpie are my closest bird-friends. It is quite intuitive image, an effect of merging meditative visions with observations in nature, so it may seem to be somewhat odd
I made it using a pencil, some felt-tip pens and a ballpen.

Haven't been around much lately, due to some 'things' that needed my attention. But can't let an Eisteddfod pass without joining, so...

Made this one for a very dear friend of mine.
It's a piece of deerskin showing his animal guides.

Edit: the piece of deerskin was a leftover from a drum making workshop

The drum is the Great Spirit's favorite instrument. That's why we were all given a heartbeat. (Mano, Navajo Elder)

The Fire Dragon, by Merlyn

Postby Merlyn » 04 Oct 2005, 01:54

This art work was completed last week, and includes flame work done in base and kandy paints over a kandy apple red background.
It is done in urethane paints. It is painted using an airbrush

Waaauuww!!! :o All these creative wonders!
This is my first entry in the crafts department. The Eisteddfod is for me a big help overcomming my lower self-confidence. I'm always shy to show what I've created. It's easier when I show my photographs, but creating something with material and you own hands is another matter. In a drawing, painting, sculpture,... you can feel a piece of the maker's soul.

This is a series of small paintings I did: the 7 chakras.

Image

The next painting I did in a course: meditative painting and I called it: letting go.
If you watch closely you can see a spiral in relief in the background.

Drew this picture in India ink way back when I was taking Art class in High School. Even then I knew I was being influenced by trees.
