Tiger, tiger, through hoops burning bright
Jump to the flick of the whips wicked bite
Fear in your eyes from flames or from lash
bring in the crowds, owners pockets fill with cash,
Leap from stool to stool to the crowds wild delight.
Dream of your freedom,
India's forest darkest night
Dance brother bear dance in the street
Turn in a circle with chains 'round your feet
Stand on your hind legs, waving your paws
performing your tricks to riotous applause.
Dance brother bear or the stick you will feel
Or be pulled by your nose with a ring made of steel.

Summer ends in gowns of gold and Red
Diamond encrusted webs
add sparkle to her aging eyes.
One last dance before sleep over takes her
and visions of green fill her dreams.

My poem

Postby Olly » 02 Oct 2005, 23:42

I wrote this a while ago, hope you all like it :)

The foggy haze swept closer,
Dew drops on the golden leaves scattered on the ground begins to melt,
The sky and the green of the woods becomes one,
The lake shimmering in the dim light, sparkling like silver,
A breezes brushes past,
The ferns flutter like butterflys and
The trees sway to a natural melody,
The fallen green unites with crimson leaves,
The sun rises in the distance, a blinding yellow,
The entire wood shines like the glory of nature itself,
As the sun rises the trees cast mystical shadows on the ground,
The world is silent.

Love

Postby Ra3vyn » 03 Oct 2005, 17:00

I've thought long and hard about submitting this, but in the end I feel it's a good thing to do, after all, poetry is something from the heart and soul. This is from both.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the candle flame's mellow glow..
I have waited so long for you...
The time has come and we both know,
Each heart to the other is true.
I,lost in your green eyes-you lean down,
The touch of your lips like the Rose,
My Knight, my Life, my Beloved, my Clown;
My need for you ever grows.
I caress the glossy black of your hair,
My fingers sliding through the silk strands,
Your arms encircle me, do I dare,
Give in to my heart's demands..
Your lips linger, lightly, sweetly on mine..
The strength of you, fierce yet tender,
A Love that it's-self transcends time...
Promising us forever..
Moulding us together in each other's arms.
Through your words, your touch, your feel,
Your very soul speaks protection from harms
Your belief and adoration are real.
Our bond is a beautiful, shining white light
Our Faith, our total trust.
It's never a question of what may or might
But what will be and what must.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This poem is something that seemed to come out of nowhere at a time in my life when above sentiments were the furthest thing from my mind.
I had no-one in mind when I wrote this, I finally came to the conclusion that it was a cry from my heart, for a love that I could only imagine.

I wrote this when I was going through a period of seeing a lot of black crows. I have just started the Bard course so I know it isn't very good yet, but I have been writing a lot of poems. I thought this was a good one to share for Samhuinn.

Raven
Black as the darkest night,
a sign of death to those on the battlefield full of might.

Death of the old self leads to birth of a new you,
Let us not be afraid but look forward to the new.

Is danger coming my way?
Will I live to see the next day?

The Raven speaks to me about this new path I now walk,
As my totem animal I will listen to him talk.

String Theory

Because I wish to tie the thread
Of continuity between
The formless and the formed, the shreds
Of life contained within the dream
Distill, for me, the sense of something new.

The afterlives of thoughts still sing
A melody that changes rhyme
With each new bead upon the string,
The thread that brings form into time.
And suddenly I know that I have heard

The messengers of ancient gods
And goddesses, reflecting light
From deep within the darkened vault,
The visions of my inner sight:
The thread between the formless and the formed.

SEATING AND RISE

Seating and rise, diving deeply and emerge, being buried and birth. Being sowed as a seed in the dark ground and grow as a Boddhi-Tree.

O Black-Goddess, ancestral cauldron, secret spring of Enlightenment, I cry your name ! Please from you, well of Wisdom, verse a gentle flow of light and awaken the sleeper…

a bit of whimsy:

A DISGRUNTLED SOUL
9x9

damned marsupials eat my green leaves
sometimes called “bears” the whole world believes
think of the damage my trunk receives
no one uses me as a porch swing
the down under sun god is scorching
I feel evil will soon come torching
to think in the east my kind are free
considered sacred, whom some call “thee”
who’d have thought they would worship a tree?

ninnies squeeze my blood to oil their hair
breaking my branches, they skin them bare
hiking sticks carved with a kuni bear
flood waters rush in from all aroun’
the season when all fire ants drown
no visits now from the folks from town
to think in the east my kind are free
considered sacred, whom some call “thee”
who’d have thought they would worship a tree?

it’s my fault you know, my compliance
they suck me dry, these men of science
salves for ev’ry vapor appliance
then they torch me like a pile of sticks
is this how these humans get their kicks?
picking on trees and then sniffing Vicks?
to think in the east my kind are free
considered sacred, whom some call “thee”
who’d have thought they would worship a tree?

and a wee bit more:

BURNING BUSH

so many have reasons
to allay their vote
the white house seasons
have housed many a goat

this one’s speech is weak
and his politics rubbery
at best, tongue in cheek,
this war hungry shrubbery

he’s fast to throw away cash
foreign coasts are in luck
but in our own storm-lash
he just passed the buck

but why would I snip and prune
our current white house bush?
the man’s simple and a loon
and besides, he has no tush!

Chasing Lights

Postby Amethyst » 07 Oct 2005, 02:16

Chasing Lights

Silent shimmering curtains
And effervescent spires
Of brightening green
Dance between sky, land and sea.

A loon's haunting call
Rises through mists
And deepening twilight
Marking the return of night.

The dome of heaven sparkles
With the light of a thousand stars
Floating in eternity.
Welcome to north of sixty.

Love's Promise©

I love thee as the
silvery moon shines
radiant on this night.

The fragrant flowers that
drench the air envelop me,
in our love's delight.

The way the light does
touch your face,
your eye does eye mine own,

And without saying
a word does send a
message from your soul.

Oh, do please speak!
To hear a word,
just one would be divine.

A promise as constant
as the rising sun
binding our love for all time.

Ruth

Alban Arthan shines out through my eyes
waiting, dark and still
Imbolc flows from my mouth
sweet and milky rich
Alban Eilir rises up in my throat
crying out for the joys of life
Beltane blooms between my breasts
lusty and bold
Alban Hefin slides down my sweaty belly
naked under the hot sun
Lughnassad comes in waves between my thighs
ripe and full and heady with wine
Alban Elfed swirls around my feet
the fruits of a passionate season
Samhuinn beats the drum
And I dance

Entry: Prayer to my mother- author Dog

Postby Kat Lady » 08 Oct 2005, 16:34

I am posting this for one of our less frequent posters per his request. While it is a prayer, it reads like a poem. So we thought it was best to place it here.

Dog wrote:Prayer to my mother

I promise my mother today I will look.
I promise my mother today I will see.
I promise my mother today I will do.
I promise my mother today I will serve.

One piece of litter in the hedgerow I will pick.
one smile to my enemy I will give.
One moment's thought to those worse off, I will take.
For one heart's beat I shall think.

To be a part and not apart.
To be at one, but not alone.
To seek to give and not to take.
to be the best that I can be.

And so I ask the Divine to hear this prayer,
To open my heart so I might care.
I vow to respect and honour Gaea, my mother,
For unto her there is no other.

ENTRY

The Green of Summer has Turned to Gold

The green of summer has turned to gold
Amber snow lies upon the slowing grass
The web of fabric that makes the leaf
Slowly decays upon the crown of the Earth
To feed the knowledge of life back home
The amorphous loop of growth and knowledge
To keep the body filled with life
For She will be forever Autumn
And so now I pronounce
Merry meet and Merry part
Celebrate with all our hearts
And Blessed we’ll be as
The songs of Samhain are sung
And once again all Merry Meet
She's the goddess of love
The goddess in green
The goddess of all
That I've ever seen
The goddess of hope
The goddess in brown
The goddess of all
That you've burned to the ground

Entry My Answer

Postby Underground River » 09 Oct 2005, 04:55

My Answer

I walk
Slowly I walk
Slowly toward the sea
She calls to me
I slow down, timid
She calls to me still
I must keep moving
I cannot stand still forever
I walk forward
Hands in the water now
Warm water, salty, the water that has been calling
Calling to me for years
Clothes stripped off before I realize my intention
With a cry of answer
I plunge
Into
The sea!

Her Passionate Song

Sunspark glistens on water
Rushing water obscures the depths
Bird sound from all directions
A trill of sensual facets

Noontide light reflects on silk
Intricate networks ensnare the weak
Majestic arches tremble imperceptively
Fluttering leaves dulcify the breeze

Duskingtide rays settle on basalt
Weathered grains radiate the warmth
Howling shadows reach a cresendo
Before moonbeams solidify the night

Samhuin Song

This just came into my head, hopefully I wont leave it too long to complete, as it only seems to be one verse, but at the same time it is complete :???: Maybe I'll get it to be a full song

The wheel
Of Life
Has Turned
Yet one more time
With You
And Me
We’ll Be
In Ecstasy
We sing
And Dance
The rhyme
Of Samhuin rite
The wheel
Of life
Will turn
Forever more
She's the goddess of love
The goddess in green
The goddess of all
That I've ever seen
The goddess of hope
The goddess in brown
The goddess of all
That you've burned to the ground

Autumn Reflections

Postby Forest Lily » 13 Oct 2005, 13:44

Autumn Reflections

In the hush of a late afternoon in Autumn
From the edge of the forest and into fields I emerge
to be witness to
the brilliant reds and warm golden hues of my beloved trees.
I feel the gentle crystalline warmth caress me like a lover
and I ask you please
may I take the last kiss of your summer's vibrancy and vigor
to light the flame in my heart.

The trees gently sway in the early dusk light
leaves riding the soft air currents on their way to the damp chill earth.
Fluttering down all around me ,
surround me
before they meet their journey of death and rebirth.
In my soul I join them in the eternal cycle.

The warmth of the flame in my heart spreads through my veins
giving me the gift of strength and balance
to dive into Winter's Oceanic deapths.

I slowly turn towards home as the Carnelian sun sets behind the mountain.
The Harvest Moon now ahead of me to light the path to Wisdom.

Autumns Blessings,

A Day in the Life of an Average Citizen

A Day in the Life of an Average Citizen

You're at the post office
With many others
"Sorry, we're busy now
Please take a number"
You're on the telephone
To order cable TV
Hold music, hold music
All lines still busy
You sit on the sofa
Watching a show
Commercials, commercials
Midnight before you know
You try to surf the net
To get research done
An ad pops up
Ruining your fun
You check your email
Oh no, not more spam
Yep, there are hundreds
Your inbox is crammed
You go to the grocery store
To buy food you like
"Sorry, we don't carry that
But our other store might"
You go home tired
At the end of the day
Exhausted and worn-out
Tomorrow, replay!
October 13, 2005.
I love you...

Great poems, all! Loved Mika's and Robb's. Didn't have time to write more, but here is my own short poem entry:

That Awen May Flow

With emerald glory the heavens have broken
The clouds bowing outright to beryl majesty
Our Star has been hammered on infinity's anvil
Sparks showering outward to die as white embers.

Great I Am, Is, and Was
Has thrown back the veil of His blessed To Be
Through pain comes beginnings and intimate union
As the vestige of flesh is torn away.

Laid bare are the fruits of the recalcitrant spirit
Whose mother is dying of neglect and abuse
Their decadent robes will protect them no longer
Lilith has led them to woeful despair.

Desirable is the heart both lucid and cheerful
That Awen may flow as gossamer on breeze
So be it below as the great Is above
The knowledge of Truth is my chosen shield.
