I hope it's okay that I put both my entries in one post!

These are drawings I did about two years ago of CuChulainn.  I would love to eventually do a whole graphic novel story about him, but I'm not that good yet.     My favorite part of drawing him is doing his hair!  

The first one is "CuChulainn 2" and the second one is "CuChulainn 3," not because I particularly titled them that but that's how I saved the scanned file in my computer.  

I hope you enjoy them.

Well here we go - bit nervous as this is the first time I've posted one of my paintings  :oops:

Meditation on a Rose



I love flowers - I think each one is an absolute miracle of creation, and roses are my absolute favourite. This painting is of a rose I grow in my garden, a David Austin Fragrant English Rose called 'Gertrude Jekyll'. I could literally get lost just sitting and staring into it's rich pink flowers. The complex pattern of the petals coupled with the heady fragrance always draws me in. I decided to try and capture this experience in a painting and gradually exploring each individual petal and layer in paint became a kind of meditation on the very spirit of the rose. I hope that I have in some way managed to capture some of it's mystery and wonder in my painting and above all it's overwhelming feminine beauty.
