I gathered these wild grasses from my yard on Beltaine, and left the 'grain' intact to honor Lugh.

I made my own Crane Bag during this winter solstice rite.
I used an old cloth my grandmother gave me years ago, and I´m very proud I can say I did everything from sewing to Embroidering.

I love making Wooden Runes out of Oak,Rowan and especially Blackthorn.
the runes here take me at least 2 days to make.cut-smudged-sanded 3times .the last being on 800gm glass paper then soaked in pure Linseed oil for 4hours being turned all the time,dried and cleansed.  :where:

This is a large 52 inch stave I made from fallen solid Oak.  The bark has been removed, the wood lightly sanded by hand, polished and then lacquered several times.  A leather strap is attached at the top for easy gripping and hanging.  Stones were chosen and set for their beauty and the qualities listed below.

This is a leather outfit I made for myself for participation in the Virginia Renaissance Faire.

Not everything that you can see in the photos I made myself.  The things that I did not make are: The hat, the rapier sheath and frog, the main gauche sheath, and anything that is not actually clothing (rapier, dagger, ermine, etc)

The parts of it that I did make, and submit for your consideration are:
- The doublet, which is black leather with dark blue suede edge trim, black suede, dark blue suede, and burgundy leather accents with silver trim across the chest, shoulders, and upper back.
- The sleeves, which are black heavy suede with wine-red silk lining, black and burgundy leather cuffs, and sterling silver buttons.
- The chemise, which is a light-cream linen.
- The breeches, which are black doeskin.
- The gloves, which are black doeskin with burgundy leather flame-motif appliqué trim at the cuffs.
- The boots, which are burgundy leather with black trim built on top of the foot part of an old harness boot.  Essentially I made the easy part; everything from the ankle up, and sewed it to the bottom part of a boot I'd cannibalized.  Note that the boots are of a style called "gartered", and are actually supposed to be floppy like that and have straps going up to the belt.
- The main gauche frog (the little bit that attaches the sheath to my belt right at the small of my back).  


In this photo, you can see the doublet, sleeves, breeches, and part of the boots:


In this one, you can see the sleeves a little better (especially the cuffs), and the angle allows you to see some of the black-on-black trim on the front of the doublet:



This last one I put in primarily because it shows the glove on my left hand clearly, and you can see the main gauche clinging to the small of my back, thus implying the existence of the frog.  It also shows the doublet trim going over the shoulder and across the back.  I've left the photo cropped to a wide scene so that the reason for my odd pose is evident; that's a rapier coming in at me from the left:


I've scaled the images down for posting here, out of consideration for bandwidth.  Here are larger versions of the front view, side view, and the one with the glove.

Summer Scarf<p><a href="http://www.paintedred.com/abhaill/Summer_Scarf.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.paintedred.com/abhaill/Summer_Scarf_TN.jpg" width="200" height="300" border="0"></a></p>
This is a silk scarf, mordanted with alum, and dyed first in a bath of onion skins (gold), and then in a bath of madder root (red).  The pattern was achieved by folding the scarf and then tying pennies into it at intervals, to create the daisy-like flowers or sunbursts.

This is my robe and Thunderbirds shirt and vest that I made for our handfasting.

I also made the necklace and earrings.

My medieval dress:



Here is my dress - reconstruction of the fashion from the early Middle Ages (10-th century) weared in the Central Europe. There are three parts of it: white underwear, green dress and the brown 'apron dress'.

It is made from the natural materials- generally wool and flax. It is hand- made because in the middle ages people didn't have any electric machines

The 'apron dress': the embroidery has some silk applications and the 'ribbons' around the neck are woolen- I also weaved it by myself using a special loom (medieval reconstruction of the tool)

I also made the shoes and the bag with the wolf



The costume is really convenient and it's great to spend a weekend in the forest like in medieval times
