Transformation to the Otherworld

This sculpture has one eye, one leg bone, and one arm pointing to the sky.
It measures 8 inchs long, 7 inches high,, and 4 1/2 depth. It took 2-3 weeks to carve from a piece of wood found in a river. On one side it has a leg bone on the otherside there is a salmon. This is symbolic of assuming the position of a crane, standing on one leg, one arm behind the back and one eye closed. In stories, Balor had one eye, as did Odin who it is said gave one of his eyes to the Well of Rememberance.

BULL OF BONE

This is a vertebrate bone that has been painted to look like a bull. The symbols are ones I associated with Donn, the Hosteler of the Dead, whose House lies off the southwest coast of Ireland. It measures about 4 inches cubed.

Me thinks its time to participate!
Heard Of Cows?
Well I expect you have!

So I thought I would paint a couple.

Soft Pastel - October 2007
A mixture of different scenes from the South Island of New Zealand.
Sky and cloud formation from a harbour setting in the area of Banks Peninsula, Canterbury.
The background of mountains and hills from the Southern Alps of the South Island.
The middle ground a field with a river from the middle of the island situated in central Otago and finally a couple of cows from just down the road.

In Love Light and Peace
