Here's my song.

Brighid, mo mháthair

Lyrics:

In the forests of your cities with their trees of glass and mud
and their beasts of roaring iron and blazing steel
I have been among the warriors whose money flows like blood
and I know the searing pain of how it feels.
a Bhrighid mo mhathair tá mé ag teacht ar ais
a Bhrighid mo mhathair tá mé ag teacht abhaile aríst

I have seen the one-eyed Balor as he screams from every wall,
I have seen the deathly beam from his one eye.
And I’ve heard our banshee mother keen among her concrete hills
as she feels her daughters’ souls begin to die.
a Bhrighid mo... (etc)

You have led me to the feet of my holy father tree
He has held me in his heartwood all the year
he has filled me with his dreams for a new and saner world
without hatred without hunger without fear
a Bhrighid mo... (etc)

I have wandered through your fields, by your rivers and your streams
I have climbed your misty mountains swathed in trees
In the magic of your deserts I have dreamed your ancient dreams
I have heard the pleasant music of your seas
a Bhrighid mo... (etc)

I will never lose my way in this crazy world again
I will be forever more within your gaze.
I will clear the forest path to your bright and holy hearth
I will learn the peaceful beauty of your ways.
a Bhrighid mo... (etc)

(The irish means: Brighid, my mother, I am coming back... I am coming home again.)

Celtic Fire

This piece is written for guitars, fiddles, flutes, pipes and bodrum and is a celebration of the Beltane Fires. I hope you like it. If you do not want to download the piece, I have also placed it as the first piece on my Soundclick.com page.

Here is my entry: Sumer is icumen in
I've been learning to play the ocarina, and have recorded each part of this traditional tune separately then glued it all together.

Eventide

Eventide is a song I composed a little while back. I used computer software because (unfortunately) i'm not yet proficient enough an instrumentalist to play it. Though that 'technically' makes it electronic music, its not really! There are no words to it, but it was meant to be instrumental. Hope you like it!

I wrote it in the evening, just as the sun was going down, and found that perhaps some of the moment had been captured in the song (though it may sound completely different to your ears)! It's a pretty relaxed song, almost minimalistic in nature, with repeating patterns and a backing beat to keep it moving along. I find it kind of hypnotic...

Thanks for listening!
