Green Man Rising

This piece is for Beltane and celebrates the Green Man. I am sure everyone here will know who the Green Man is but for anyone who doesn’t, he is the spirit of the forest, a fertility figure, the Horned God and Pan. He has been linked to and some consider personified as Osiris, Robin Hood, the Holly King, the Green Knight and Odin. You will find him in the prehistoric cave paintings of Lascaux and in the mythology of almost every country of the world from Borneo to India to Europe. Today his image appears in carvings in many churches and on the walls of Banks in New York and Chicago. To me, he is the essence of life in the forest and the guardian and shepherd of that life (I suspect Tolkein modelled the Ent on the Green Man). His image is of a face in the leaves and he dies in Winter and is reborn in Spring. Hence Green Man Rising refers to the mystery that is the rebirth of life in Spring.

Hope you enjoy my music.

Bright Blessings
Malcolm

Wow, it's been a while since I did this.

This track is essentially about walking between the realms, which seemed appropriate for a time when the veil is thin here in the Northern hemisphere. The title is a line from the poem featured in the TV series "Twin Peaks" which speaks of a being who walks between the worlds. It's the title track from my new album and is dedicated to my amazing wife, who gave support, snacks and showed endless patience throughout the broken strings, mood swings and other crazy things that were a part of the process. Very happy I finally got round to doing it though, and I'm pleased with the result, which is a bit unusual for me. She also introduced me to the series and continues to bring sunshine to even the darkest of days. Of which there are thankfully very few these days.

I had a great time writing this, it was one of those that was just bursting to get out and was the result of the fire in the head that always has an accompanying euphoria.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

With Peace and Blessings

Samhain by Mer-Lyn and NorthernKiara

The song is entitled "Samhain". It is a recording collaboration between myself and Northern Kiara, both of us new OBOD Bards and close friends.
The quality of our recording is not great as it is home produced using ordinary PCs ...

The song is originally by the pagan rock band "Inkubus Sukkubus" and features on their album Belladonna and Aconite.

Please find our mp3 track attached to this message. Just double-click the filename to hopefully open it in your default music player.

Vocals: Mer-Lyn and Kiara
Guitar: Merlyn
