ALIEN TERRITORY

The scene is white

Nothing but purity

Add to this a few stout conifers

Still green?

And there it is.

The copse where we played

At Custer and Sitting Bull

The hill

And the dip

(Where my brother once took liz

Whose dad runs the pub)

All gone

Not just covered - removed

Alien territory

Snow.
That which I am within is that which is within me

The Invisible Cat.

I am the invisible cat
Walking on newly fallen snow
White on white
Paw prints appearing
As if by magic.

I am the intrepid
Explorer cat
As brave as could be
Wandering the
Arctic waste

(I hope they find me
by dinner time though)

Love Vine

Cut it back
to the ground.
Hack the stump
from the earth.
Burn the leaves,
the vines, and flowers.
Still it stays,
buried deep,
until it wakes.
Underground it stirs
to writhe it's way
up to the sun.
Breaking through
the frozen earth
to rule the garden.
Despite all tries
to drive it out
it always returns.
and secretly,
I welcome it.

Karen

You and I have been just like sisters
You and I have been childhood friend
You and I have lived together lives ups and downs

You where here when my life feel apart
You where here for me when I need comfort
You where here when I was full of sorrow

You held me as tears fell from my eyes
You held me till my tears where no more
You held me when I needed arms of support

You listened when others wouldn’t
You Listened as I talked my heart out
You listened until I could talk no more

You sheared joy with me as my life returned
You sheared my hope as my heart healed
You sheared with me happiness as sorrows went away

You tell me you are moving to Spain
You tell me you have room for me to stay
You tell me to visit soon and have a holiday

You will miss me very much each and every day
You will be always my one true friend
You will keep in touch across the miles

You email me, said the sun is shining
You email me, you have a webcam, so we can share a smile
You email me, the room is ready and waiting for my plain to land

Winters Transition to Spring

Warm breath unfurls,
Meeting crispy, frosted air,
Each inhale brings a sense,
The Body, fighting to avail.

Snow flitters, lazy and rhythmic,
Ice transforms, known to alien,
The wind dies down,
A gust to fool the unweary.

Winters blanket, embraces all,
Children play unfazed at games,
The sun peaks out, warmingly,
Glistening the land, a subtle dawn.

The weary holly king,
Unleashing laboured breath's,
His reign begrudgingly extended,
Each days toll a new lament.

At last, spring is uncorking,
From its wintery bottle,
The air permeating,
With the essence of spring joy.

Bridhe's Green Mantle

The fields have been ploughed
Fat brown Earth
Ready to receive the seeds
There, a shimmer of green
Signs of life
A promise of colour
And delicate flavour
And fruit in the fullness of time

Trees and bushes everywhere
Seem to stretch
And reach for the sun
Their branches bulge with buds
Signs of life
A promise of colour
And delicate perfume
And fruit in the fullness of time

My heart also feels the touch
Of Bridhe's gentle hand
The hard crust and protective shell
Soon will burst
Sign of new growth
A promise of colour
And delicate flavour
And fruit in the fullness of time
The sounds of the winds in the elms
like the strings of a harp being played,
the note of the blackbird that claps
with the wings of delight in the glade.

Beauty of brilliant snow
Radiance of rolling hills
Intimacy of irridiscent embers
Droplets of dark water
Excellence of the eternal heart
The sounds of the winds in the elms
like the strings of a harp being played,
the note of the blackbird that claps
with the wings of delight in the glade.

Stepping forward

The mist had cleared
I took a step through the gateway
It was no rushed decision
Though I knew i always would
One day

Another cliffs edge
Jumping is nothing new now
I know through bad times and good
Spirit always prevails
Somehow

Paranoia

Paranoia creeping in
Raising demons from within
Scratch my skin and pull my hair
full of feelings of despair
Anxiety is not a choice
hear the panic in my voice
Breathing quickens, shouting words
Hope that no one else has heard
Time to go, or do the tea
It’s not a good time for me
Put on the mask to fool outside
Inner thoughts of suicide
No one asks “How was your day”
The angry thoughts don’t go away
Hawthorn blossoms are in bloom
cannot lift this heavy gloom
Their scent is sweet and makes me smile
but only for a little while
I drive and drive away away
I’m feeling better now hurray
The buzzard soars without a care
The Ravens swooping through the air.
Come back home and there I find
all the things I left behind,
And here they come, all piling in
Raising demons from within.
