under the linden.

under the windowed linden high,
million-mooned sky of leaf
above and million-leafed sky
below, one green, the other grief-

drab, grey and darkly deckled
beneath the haunting foot of hare,
itself a shade and greyly speckled,
till still, invisibly there,

there moves the moon-white flit of fans
thrown down, of dancing sprites
done with the pleasures of the dance
after the light, white, night’s delights

of moon-dance. now the lilting breeze
that made their music in the night,
bowing the singing sapling trees,
flutters the million fans, moon-white…

moonlight makes the cold, vain scholar know
these subtle things, and see the wreathes
that from the dawn-lit stubble go
up with the mist where aether breathes

profuse perfumes from petals. i
bless those souls who blindly see
and ignorantly ‘know’ the sky
made green by windowed linden trees.

You're there

I know you’re there,
The pounding in my chest
Resonating, I can’t bring myself to care
I lay beneath my night sky
Indulge in emptiness,
Too restless to let these tears dry
A peaceful ache, I know you’re there
And for a moment, like you,
I cease to be,
And from that void, lucidity strikes
A day I never thought would dawn
I can stop searching
Don’t need to hear you respond,
I know you’re there.

Disintegration

The last shadow leaves late
From the room that begs my slumber

I'll beckon unwanted company close;
Tonight's sleep will be tough trying

Even as lids drip, and drop, and drain me,
I shall not succumb to the vast, lazy sea

Stagnant in wait of its chance
When shreds of shining safety falter

And no longer will shadows shift;
Only disintegrate

Only disintegrate

The Grove

I wandered in the Grove today.

From within a circle of stones Mother Willow beckoned to me with sweeping arms.
"Come Child, rest, speak with me what you will."
She stroked me with her graceful, draping branches.
"Be at peace"

Raven flew down.
Cocking his head to fix me with his eye he said:

"Comfort I bring, and protection.
I travel between worlds.
Fear not when I am near"

So I rested at peace and talked with Mother Willow of many things.
Her counsel was gentle and wise.

Raven watched over us and the stones stood sentinel.
I was Blessed.

Imbolc

Pure water on white pebbles
Whispering softly wordless songs
Melting snow sighing in melancholy
trickling down tree trunks

Sunlight painting shining patterns
On thawing soil's secret thrust
Tiny tips of silvery snowdrops
Shyly show their emerald elegance

Musty smell of spongy mushroom
Fades slowly before flowers of spring
Airy aroma of delicate dreams
Weave Bridhe's perfume into the world
The sounds of the winds in the elms
like the strings of a harp being played,
the note of the blackbird that claps
with the wings of delight in the glade.

Dark Rainy Day

The dark menacing clouds drift overhead
The birds have gone, all to roost
The sun has hidden out of view
Pita patter, Pita patter

The rain is now dancing on the ground
The sound of water drumming on dustbin lids
The drip, drip, dripping on window sills
Pita patter, Pita patter

The wet ground beneath my feet
The sweet rain upon my hands and face
The feeling of joy and happiness in my soul
Pita patter, Pita patter

The streams and rivers, rushing down to the sea
The dirt and dust, washing down the drains
The tree’s large thirsts once more are quenched
Pita patter, Pita patter

The fresh smell of pure cleaned air
The water from the god’s let loose upon the land
The rain once more performing its blessed task
Pita patter, Pita patter,…………… Pita patter

A Song of the Greenwood

Let me sing you a song of the cool, green wood
And the dance of the Hornéd Lord,
Of the sound of his piping, as fresh as the wind
And as keen as the bite of a sword!

Let me sing you a song of the evergreen groves,
And the music of brook and of bird;
Where the rustle of leaves in the morning breeze
Is the only sound to be heard.

Then into the sun-dappled glade he will come,
To the thrilling of flute and of lyre,
And the song of the pipes that he plays as he leaps,
Sets loins and hearts afire!

Now dance with the Horned One, ye lasses and lads,
As you rise with the wild, whirling song,
Laughing and loving 'neath silver-green boughs
While the golden wind rushes along.

Lie down in the leaves and the loam-scented earth
As your spirits and bodies unite,
And move, as you love, to the rhyme of the dance,
And the wild piping's spiralling flight!
"Ask the Green Man where he comes from, ask the Cup that fills with red;
Ask the old grey Standing Stones that show the Sun his way to bed.
Question all as to their ways, and learn the secrets that they hold:
Walk the lines of Nature's palm, crossed with silver and with gold."
-- Jethro Tull, "Cup of Wonder"

HERE AND NOW

no gestures
just breathing
here and now

no words
just being
here and now

no thoughts
just accepting
here and now

no feelings
just healing
here and now
there is no way to happiness, happiness is the way (the buddha)

My Mum & Dad

Imagine a love greater than any seen,
Where every day is filled with kindness,
Belly laughter & joyful tears,
It’s at the heart of the table, the family for me,
Where the blessings of smiles, bring hollers so full,
And the hugs, so mighty a heart, be understood.
Through every step, the minds work united,
By this great love, through all I am guided.
From wherever I am, whatever I do,
There’s such great strength of the love coming through,
Making me strong, giving me reason to fight,
Giving me self confidence & enthusiasm for life,
Making me proud to hold my head up high,
Cos I’ve been told I am so special, so lucky am I,
To be bestowed with such an absurd positivity,
Hey world, they’re havin a laugh & it’s all about me.

How intricately woven a beautiful path they create,
Brings wonderment & chuckles to me to this very day,
The more I grow, the more I live, the more I come to see,
What a mighty blessing in their template, has been made for me.
Most growing up experiences were the purest poetry.

To think how wonderful it is to have chrimbo at my folks,
To know a home where it is simple to have a good laugh & a joke,
To love each other so much, we all strive to our highest dreams,
So we can revel in the good times, best of friends, being real.

Such a kick start to this world to come in with such happiness.
All I can do is wonder how on earth I’m going to better the best.

Caroline Gemma Mitchell Roe Mulcahy.

Home

The trembling hand, holds such dear keys,
Such a gift from the heavens, especially for me,
The joy of a space, which I call my first home,
Such a luxurious pleasure, to in these walls roam,
When I first did arrive, was as bare as could be,
Now the dream has amounted, it’s so very cosy,
Makes me love every moment, when I remember the days,
When no home I had, just the sun’s rays.
Now I’m nestled & strong & can my nurture my dream,
To grow a heart’s song, limitless possibilities!

C.G.M.R.M.

Breathe

How important it is, to express what we feel,
To let the tears flow in torrents,
The laughter ring in our ears,
To say what we feel,
Allows life’s cogs to turn,
So we can live to move forward,
Let the sensations roll,
As we can only bring new life,
Once the old has been shed,
We stay young of the senses,
As we allow to feel,
The bursts of the heart,
Keeping us being real.
Let the flow be so mighty,
Let the heart know to be,
So centred in the self, we see,
So, we are able to breathe.

Tyranny ( A sonnet)

Before the whistling, whetted edge of blade
Divides the silver thread of sense and soul,
And life is left unfettered and un-whole
With whispered urgings of the unheard shade;
Before this dread and darkest hour of all
There is a thought that grows in strength of words,
That finds a form in ink, like dark-winged birds
Across a page that cringes at the fall
Of pen-tip. Oh, that pen so wielded here!
What power drips in ink on this bleak leaf,
This strength to end the life of saint or thief
And keep the mobs immobilized in fear?

For this I know, when faced with restless horde
The lowly pen is mightier than the sword.
