A distinct lack of Water.

Taken by the Grand Union Canal, Rickmansworth. The ice had frozen to about an inch deep, so the ducks, geese and swans walked across the canal to me!

Enjoy this life. It would be a shame if we looked forward to the next, only to find we forgot the one before.

lugnasadh blessings from oz.

it's now the southern lugnasadh -
the temperature is soaring.
we sizzle in the blazing heat
with sweat from faces pouring. :anx:

my nose is sunburnt deepest red,
my blistering skin revealing
a brighter shade of pink beneath
(some might think that’s a-peeling!).

the sand’s too hot for walking on,
it really burns our feet.
we have to put our shoes on
to protect us from the heat. :o

the garden plants have all gone limp,
the annuals are all flat.
i’m in the shade with nothing on
except my wizard’s hat. :merlyn:

so blessings bright this lugnasadh
from oz’s desert lands
of blazing sky and fiery sun
heat haze and burning sands. :gulp:

Imbolc Day

Cold, bright, crisp new day,
crunching underfoot as I make my way,
over the hill where the old bones lay,
out of the darkness of late winter night.

Damp, dreich, sodden clouds,
closing in as the north wind howls,
making me wish for a friendly house,
as cold fingers once again begin to bite.

Nice, lazy, crackling fire,
just the place to escape winter's ire,
as new born lambs gently warm in the byre,
while Brighid's flame burns constant and bright.
