2012 SAMHUINN/BELTANE RITUAL ENTRIES: Early Winner!

Samuinn/Beltain ritual

Wicca/Druid

Single or group ritual

Now is the time of the Earth/ Mother to rest and the spirits to visit. Also a time to say goodbye.
This is the beginning and the end of the craft year.

8 candles: Place candles at all the seasons and a token of that time.
4 stones one for January, April, July, and one for November.
(Place them between the wheel at the appropriate place)

Cushion/s or rug to sit on or lie. Place in the Samuinn October of the year.
Glass/s of wine /mead. Placed in the middle of circle of candles.
Picture/s of loved ones departed in this year. Place at the month of their birth or death


Clean the area you are performing the ritual in and purify/bless with fire/incense and water.
Place the candles and stones in a circle, place goblet of wine/mead or fruit juice if preferred.
Picture of friends or loved ones departed in this year. Place at month of their birth or death.
(If you don’t have a picture write their name on a card.)

Druid: Salute the quarters, cast circle sun-wise or Wiccan: Call on the spirits to attend.

Starting at at Samuinn

(Group select one person to do this.)

Slowly walk the circle of the wheel sunwise, stopping at each season, light the candle and welcome the spirit/gods/ Goddess of that time. (In your own words)
On returning to Samuinn, sit for a while and remember the year, the things that you did or should have done.

When ready stand up:

Now time to visit with the departed:
Take the Goblet and walk sun-wise to the month of birth or their passing over. Stand /sit for a while.
Say their name…………. send them love and then drink to their memory.

(Meditate: Think of the good times you had with them not the sad time.)

Group Ritual. Each taking it in turn:
Say their name…………. send them love and then drink to their memory.
and then return to rug at Samuinn to meditate.
(Group when all have returned.)

On return to Samuinn /October.

Say:
The wheel has turned so will it turn again. As the circle of our life turns to the Autumn and of time of reflection.
Spirits of this time and of this place I/we come to thank you. as you visit for a while. You will always be in our hearts.
Blessings and light on your journey.

Slowly walk counter clock wise blowing out the candles saying thank you and goodbye, to the spirits of the seasons.

The ritual is now closed.
Druids uncast circle counter clock wise/ Wiccan thank the spirits for attending.

Time for the Wheel to turn once more.
