Greetings! I've been reading the poetic Eddas lately as a way to understand my Germanic heritage and tried to write a poem in both the "entire half-line" and the "galdralag (magic measure)" styles...neither of which I understand fully. I wanted to include both my Germanic studies and my Bardic studies as well.

Please note that I can't seperate the lines in a traditional way on this board, it seems to join them back together no matter what I do, so I have placed a "/" where they should be split into half-lines! Enjoy!
Hearthfire of Disting
The freezing fog / of o'ercast days
Grinds the soul/ 'neith Niflheim's bane
I feed the hearth/ 'till firedogs glow
Ease my bones/ to bide the night.
I fear the death/ that comes to mortals
Black and mould/ within the Earth
The worms, the chill,/ the darkness endless
Will light and warmth / be gone from me?
On Bridhid's Day/ the cold light burns
in the belly
in the belly
On Modron's breast / the Mabon nurtured
by holy milk
by holy milk
I raise the horn/ bind-runes flicker
my lids droop weary / my mind grows still
The smoke curls 'round/ escapes from flame
Oak and pine tar,/ fill Valfather's hall
I grasp for meaning / to ken the Gods' will
Setting my root/ I grasp the staff
To touch the center / I draw the circle
Yggdrasil's branches / my outstretched arms
The cauldron dark/ my soul descends
in the belly
in the belly
Soul fire rebirth me / the Golden Child
