Bards (entry)

We are the seeds of your inspiration
The voice of your reasoning
The Mystery of your core
And the words of your power
I am time long past
I am future bright and strong
I am history unfolding
I am the lovely bird song
I am the streets of never-ending
I am the taverns of hearts mending
I am the legends you hold dear
I am the thoughts in your head you hear
I am the vessel from which you drink
I am the river of which you swim
If called by name I must
Then call me from which I am
For I am Bard and I named the Druid

ENTRY

ENTRY

Fly
Flying
high above the night
I soar
in dreams I soar
and touch
the wind as it tears past
the silver rain kisses
my wings
(not tangible, not touchable
but metaphysical and always there)
and I glide
through freedom unknown in daylight

Sit
Sitting all day
at a desk
in a classroom
in my car
the rain
(grey now, not the bright
silver in my dreams)
beats on my windscreen
hearkens to another existence
I live to dream
Willow the still inkless

Peace over anger. Honour over hate. Strength over fear.

The Glory of Winter

Postby Arden » 31 Dec 2004, 05:01

My grandmother wrote this poem in 1994 after her husband passed away. About a year ago, she herself passed on. She was born and raised ... and died ... as a devout Southern Baptist. Like all grandmothers, she was a great woman. In her honor, I enter her poem, believing she is gracious for it.

The Glory of Winter
by Florence Marion Capen

As I sit her by my kitchen window
Looking out at the Northwest range,
I see a picture that only God could create.
The ground is covered by a pure white blanket.
The Eastern sun has glorified the West mountain
With a pinkish glow.
Here and there a beautiful white birch tree
Stands out amongst the firs, beach, maple and oak.
The sky is aqua blue with soft pink moving clouds
Reflecting hte sun's rays.
The mountain looks so close
That if I were to step out on my front porch
I could reach up and touch the hand of God
And give thanks.
For only he could have created anything so beautiful.

Lovingly dedicated to my husband, Del

Dusk came…clouded mauve
a silhouette of tousled treetops.
Blue starlight.
Sharp…
The soft flare of a new moon.

ENTRY Awa Flow

Postby Unikorn » 02 Jan 2005, 22:46

For my friends, Kym and Jim, who have left this side of life and re-turned to dance in the Ether of Existance.

**Awa Flow**

Between the Mountain and the Sea,
we travelled north
along a river
filled by the tears of that mountain
whose heart was torn,
and in the song
of the wind
I think of you,
my tears flow freely,
mountain,
river,
sea.

Standing silently
as mountains do,
your spirit flows now
to join
that river, awa, to travel home,
the veil falls,
and yet, in the whisper of the wind
and the song of the river
I hear your laughter
and know,
now it is you who flows
and dances
in the wind
and loving energy
of Moana Nui - the Sea.

Starspawned very lovely Hun,
it may only be a few words but you placed them quite poeticly well. :awen: :awen: :awen: :brnbear: :feather:

Unicorn my Dearest,
That is an absolutely beautiful tribute to your friends, and instead of feeling your pain i could feel the joy of their freedom to cross over with love. Ya touched this old gals heart. :candle: :awen: :awen: :awen: :brnbear: :feather:

The Pursuit - ENTRY

Postby FallingLeaves » 03 Jan 2005, 19:39

The Pursuit

Pursuing me
through dreams
and shadows

She bids
me enter

Why have I
resisted
for so long?
Her warm
moist embrace
I ask
As rain falls
upon the
barren plains

and daylight
brightens
the shadowlands

ENTRY

She stares at a crostic
of lines
wishes words would come
that could transform or inspire
(or at least tell a story)
but the lines
hypnotize
without giving a clue
or a spark of a notion
as they stretch
(seemingly into infinity)
blank and uncompromising
and without pity
for a muse
long gone.
Willow the still inkless

Peace over anger. Honour over hate. Strength over fear.

Oh man! Are we ever going to have trouble voting for only one or two favorites here! Dark themes, light themes, renewal and life themes... what a collection of excellent work... Phoenix, I loved your first one! Robb's was I think one of his best yet.. I won't know who to vote for!!! Ack!

entry

Earth awakes again
after deep slumber

small blades of grass emerge
to greet a world still
grey and somber

Oh Earth, giver of life,
I wish I was like the perennial grass,
forever bold and hopeful

Oh Earth, wondrous Earth,
nurture our hearts
on this time of rebirth,
your children we are,
forever lost and fearful.
'Please believe me,
the River told me ,
very softly, want you
to hold me'
