Aviary

Postby Azrienoch » 05 Jan 2005, 00:07

Aviary

It's still not finished, but I'll be gone next week, and won't have time to finish before submissions are up. Things that still need to be done are; the wire half of the roof, the frame for the floor (I'll put newspapers underneath it for easy clean-up), and more perches need to be installed.

So, this is the aviary I've made. It was the closet in my study, but I removed the doors and made a wooden frame to replace it. Although it doesn't show up in the picture, poultry fencing is what fills the space in the frame. On the right-hand side is the door, and I use an "S" hook to keep it locked.

And there, within the aviary is my wonderful recently made friend, Herodotus (also pictured in my avatar).

ENTRY: Well, here's the long awaited Athame!

Image

She is a Rufous Hummingbird, in spirit:

I have been working on her for five months, and started with an old file I had in my shop. She also is made from:

Ebony (hilt)
Solid Brass (spacer)
Walnut (handle)
Rutilated Quartz egg

In addition, she includes an Amethyst cabochon on the "nose" of the egg (inside the handle) to act as a calming influence on the very strong and wild woods.

And, so this doesn't kill people on dial-up TOO much, here are some more images:
