responsive design for the DHP

Postby Fox » 21 Mar 2013, 18:18

I think it's past time to have a "responsive design" template for the board.

Responsive design is when the page reconfigures itself depending on the size of the screen.

There are some here:

It would make life a lot easier for those of us with mobile devices.

Please?

Can you do it?

Probably not. But the sysadmin for the board should be able to do it.

Well then, let's wait for Selene. I think she's a dab hand. Let's see what she says.

Um, no, I'm afraid I lack the expertise to do anything with the software that makes this thing tick. And unfortunately, we don't at the moment have a hands-on sysadmin, something I've been trying to remedy for some time. It's a good idea, Fox, and I will add that to my list of things that need doing when we find someone who has the time and ability to do some modifications. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've never had any problems with different screensizes really: using both a 27 inch mac desktop machine OS10.8 with firefox and my iphone 4 running an outdated iOS with Safari. No special add-ons or settings. Both scale nicely.

So the question is: is it the board or the browser that causes the need for excessive scrolling?

I don't know how this board is run, but sometimes there's a click-on option somewhere in the admin menu that enables these kind of functions. Then it would be a matter of click on/click off. Other times the hosting service can add the feature for you.
