Notification of Replies...

I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems I'm not getting email notifications of new replies on the board this evening. I was earlier but have now noticed several threads have received responses in the last hour or so and I'm not being notified.

Hi John. I always did on the old board, and then all of a sudden it stopped (about two months ago) and I couldn't work out why and neither could Selene.

Since the new board has come on-line, I get notification for a couple of topics, but not for the others. Strange.

Hi,
Im not sure that this has anything to do with it but Ive just found out that my notifications have been going to my old email addy. I had changed it awhile ago to my new one...I went to check my profile and lo and behold it has my old addy back again. I also changed my password ages ago too and now it seems to have reverted back to the original one I was given, so now I can't even change any of my info.

I have the opposite problem. I don't want to get email notifications because I check new posts anyway. I've checked no notifications in my profile, but still get them.

I have 15 pages I'd have to go thru to mark each one for no notification! (and on the test board, this included forums, so I can't just click 'all' or I'm unsubbed to all forums). I'll live with it.....

I have asked a support question on the phpBB community forum. No changes were made between today and yesterday.

I've been getting absolutely nothing at all - no notification of replies, nor PM, nor email.

In an earlier release of phpBB v3 (maybe RC3 or 4) I had to set up my own board to use an SMTP server instead of the local mail function. Prior to that it seemed to only send out notifications on a whim. One day it worked fine, one day it didn't. I could never track down whether the issue was in phpBB or a problem with my hosts PHP mail service but it seemed to work fine once I switched. Really, notification weren't the main issue - the bigger issue was that activation emails for new users weren't being sent either.

Oh and another thing to try:
a) In the ACP under "E-mail Settings", set the "E-mail package size" to 0 (zero).
b) Purge the cache

It's an admin thing, Donata...ACP = admin control panel. However, I'm going to let Kernos or Eoin handle that one since they know more about it than I do.

Weird... well, that was my experience with RC 3 or 4... some days it would work, some it wouldn't.

Interestingly, I just got a reply notice for this topic

It is the gremlins at work. I suspect there is a bug which is being worked on and this is one reason this is RC5 and not a golden master.
