Editing submitted private messages

Postby mwyalchen » 07 Jan 2008, 14:08

A couple of times now, I've sent a private message then noticed a spelling mistake. The board gives an edit option, but when I use this to correct the spelling and submit it I get a red message saying "incorrect form, try resubmitting". Resubmitting doesn't work - I just get the same message again.

Not a vital function, I know; but my typing is less than perfect, and sometimes it'd be useful!

Hi, Mwyalchen,

I'm sorry, but I can't duplicate your problem on my account, so I don't know what might be happening for you. Here's what I do when I need to edit a PM that's still in my Outbox:

1. Click on the message topic name to open it
2. Click the "edit" button
3. Make the changes
4. Click "submit"

If that doesn't work for you, I guess it's another board glitch...which style do you use? Subsilver or ProSilver?

I just changed from subsilver2 to prosilver, and on prosilver I was able to edit. Thanks for the suggestion.

I do prefer subsilver; but now I know, I can always change when I need to, then change back again.

Yeah, I know...ProSilver was a bit hard for me to get used to, but I'm told that it's going to be the new standard for phpBB boards. I don't know if that means that other styles won't be updated into compliance with the new version 8 features, or what, but it does seem that ProSilver works much better than SubSilver2 does. There's always something, isn't there...
