New Board Appearance

Postby Aylyn » 21 Apr 2008, 12:13

Hi folks,

I was very surprised by the new board appearance this morning. However, having read Selene's message, I can see the problem. I will get used to the new layout, it is just that I am too old to change...

There is one thing I do not like, though: In the old layout, it was a lot easier to see which topics and posts were new, as they were yellow instead on white. I am having a hard time distinguishing the red lines that now show an active topic from the black lines that show an inactive one. is there a way to make this clearer?

Everything else is fine and just a matter of getting used to

HI Aylyn

I don't like it either! I tried the greenmiles style option. I find it easy to adjust to, much more like the old subsilver.
That's the one I'll use.

The only problem for me is the fact that you can't see a photo in its entirety any longer. This detracts from the art works which are one of my favourite things about this forum, and a Bardic necessity.

Actually, I've sussed it. Change your Board Preferences to greenmiles2 (I think that's what it was called) and you'll get the photos back. If you don't get what I'm on about just let me know and I'll help you.

In fact, that was a really rubbish post, so I'll try to do better.

Click on User Control Panel and then on Board Preferences.

Scroll down a bit and you will see My Board Style.

In there choose greenmiles2, and it will turn everything green, which is a nice change, and a change is as good as a rest, don't they say? It will also give you the photos back in full. :D

Yeah, i'm liking the greenmiles too, even the generic phpbb3 masthead suits me better when I log in at work - it sound kind of techie which is okay when someone interrupts me at my "work" :D

Ahhh, yes, better!
Thanks Donata and Mama B.

I was wondering if I was the only one, Aylyn. I'm glad you said something.

Deep Peace,

I think we all need some help with the new layout - I am just finding out that I need new glasses, so I HAD to say something or I thought I'd go blind :-)

There a number of ways of seeing the Full Picture in Prosilver.

The easiest is to click on the picture which removes the scroll bard and exands to picture to full size. This works in Gecko (Firefox, Mozilla etc) and Webkit based (Safari etc) based browsers. Someone else will have to confirm it works in Explorer.

Or you can right-click on the image and open it in a new window.

Or the pictures can be put on an external site like Flicker and post a link or thumbnail which will show the entire pix with the [IMG] tag or open in a new window with the [URL] tag.

I would get used to this as subsilver2 and greenmile2 will probably dissapear some day.
