LOOSING MY POST!

Postby queenbeebear » 09 Jul 2008, 07:50

Help very frustrated, I am! Wrote a rather long and diliberately thoughtful post, went to embelish it with more smilies and poof! My post was eaten,
This has happened a few times, but there must be a problem?

That's happened to me a few times, usually when there is a problem with the forum hosting site (i.e. it goes down for a while, sometimes just a few seconds) or a internet problem.

Best to copy large posts; a Ctrl+C can save a great deal of anguish!

I have given up on posting large amounts of text in the browser but I thought that it was due to my chewing-gum, string and bogies dialup connection. I usually write my replies in notepad and then cut and paste the text into the reply box. That way, if I think of something useful (unlikely I know  ) I can also c&p it into my journal.

I think it's happened to all of us at one time or another—and usually after we've just spent an inordinate amount of time composing something and finally had it exactly right. I blame it on server gremlins, or perhaps the board is haunted by a particularly mischevious entity with an impeccable sense of timing. Regardless, as Badger Bob says, it's always a good idea to compose a lengthy post elsewhere and then copy it to the board when you have it the way you want it. That way, when the board eats your post, you have a backup copy (says she who never remembers to do it, either... :???: ).

Ah indeed, Badger Bob, thou art wise. And yes it is a good idea to have it backed up elsewhere, I was just trying to be "in the moment!" Well, heres to the string and bogies theory! Thanks all for the help!

*hands Bee a ribbon*

There...tie your posts together with that. Now you won't have any problems with loose posts.

Oh...you meant you've lost your post?

*hands Bee a purple leash*

That should help.

Let me know if it turns out you need a cat harness instead.
