Greetings All

I have been approached by a writer, Robert Weir, for Celtic Life Magazine, previously known as Celtic Heritage, who is working on a two-part article series on standing stone circles. Part one explores academic research on stone circles, while part two will look into their spiritual uses. He has heard about Druid and Pagan groups reverence for stone circles and would very much appreciate our personal take on the subject.

The article is for a Canadian-based magazine, although not limited to by any means, Rob is looking for feedback from Canadians and Canadian Druid groups. Information about Druids is not defined by geographical boundaries so he has assured me that any contributions from any region would be welcomed! I am just throwing this out there to anyone that would like to contribute.

He has assured me that his intention is to be descriptive and respectful. He is not seeking a “weirdness” angle to set our tradition in a bad light at all. He is a Quaker himself, so he is used to folks thinking his views are slightly unorthodox!

These are the questions that he would like us to address, or as many as we would each feel comfortable in answering:
1. Can you give a few bullet point highlights about your tradition? (I know this is asking to simplify, but much of our readership will be unaware of your beliefs.)
2. Tell me how and why you became a Druid.
3. What is the importance of stone circles (and circles in general) for followers of your tradition?
4. Do you have access to a stone circle or henge? If so, can you describe it and tell me where it is located? (Exact address not needed—just a general locale—I doubt you want gawkers!)
5. Why do you think ancient peoples built structures such as Stonehenge?
6. Why do you think ancient wisdom was lost?
7. What do we know about ancient Druids and how close does your tradition seek to follow this?
8. Can you give an example of the sort of ritual you might perform inside a stone circle or grove?
9. Feel free to add anything else you’d like to say.
