Cerne Abbas

This is an account of an experience i had at Cerne abbas many many years ago. It is only recently it is really hitting home and the other day whilst in meditation i felt compelled to tell the story here. I have no idea why, but believe it is to gain a deeper understanding of what happened through others' insight. Maybe others have experienced similar.

I stood at the bottom of the hill looking up at the top , and there hovering was a bird of prey. I climbed up the face of the hill, leaving an offering at the giant and spending some time sat beside him. I then continued my climb up the hill. The hawk was still there when i reached the top and only left when i stood atop the hill facing the sun.
The sun shining through vapoury clouds seemed to mirror the giant, rays of light appearing to be limbs. I felt a warm embrace and totally at peace, a deep inner sense of being loved and protected. I asked the giant who he was, could he show me. Now up until then it had been a bright sunny day, very few light whispy vapoury clouds, before i knew what was happening my friend and i are atop the hill in a full on thunderstorm, that seemed to come from nowhere. lightning was literally crashing down around us. I felt at ease, the warm embrace had not left me, my friend however panicked and run. I felt obliged to follow him and remember passing between elders that seemed to be the entrance to a woodland atop the hill.
I remember then being in a valley, a steep wooded hill to my right and a lush valley with 3 small lakes and a cottage. The thunder and lightning were no more and there was no sign of there ever being a storm. My friend then picked up a sprig of 3 leaves. I don't know why but it occurred to me that the leaves were from a tree that wasn't in the valley where we stood. My friend then asked me where we were, i realised i had no clue.. Then from between the trees beside the cottage walked 3 stags. One looked at me and i felt i should follow him, which i did and was led up the steep hill to my right. So steep i had to crawl on my hands and knees, grabbing at roots and branches to get up. At the top of the hill the trees cleared and i found my self just in the field over the road from our campsite. the stag then turned and went back down the hill.

As far as i know there is no woodland where the elder trees stood and no lakes in a valley next to the giant.

I would welcome any insight into this experience. I have been trying to understand it for nearly twenty years.
At first i thought the giant was showing me that he was a thunder god. My path later took me to the states to stay amongst and learn from lakota sioux people. They taught me the thunder beings were the protectors of the sacred.
I feel the symbology of the giant points toward him being a thunder being , his club being thunder, the missing spear lightning, and the phallus fertile rain.
Im now thinking maybe he is a guardian of an entrance to another world.

Any thoughts?
