Native plant databases

On the internet there are a few resources around where you can find out which plants are native to your local area.  

In Britain, I've found the Natural History Museum's Postcode Plants Database useful at times.   You can do a search on the site on the first part of your postcode to get up a list of native garden plants.  It also has a little code GW by those plants it considers as garden-worthy, although these things can be in the eye of the beholder.

Thanks for the Canadian Site Dryadia.  My next big project is learning all about my native plants and trees so I can walk into the woods and know what I'm looking at.

Another site (only for England) is English Nature's Gardening with Wildlife in Mind search page.  If you put 'Plants' in the search box and then your region, it will bring up a list of wildlife-friendly garden plants for that area.  I like this site as it not only gives you a list of plants but also tells you which conditions the plants will like and the creatures they are likely to attract.   Many of the plants, not all, are native, but the non-natives are clearly labelled as such if you prefer not to include them.

Has anyone found anything for Western Australia because I have a lot of trouble with finding native equivalents of many of the traditional/sacred plants, esp. for rituals. I know OF many of our plants but not so much what they look like/their qualities etc.

This information would be really valuable to me and if anyone could help I'd be really grateful!!!

Here is a cool herbarium with lots of NZ native plants and some introduced ones. It describes the region of Taranaki only, but many of the plants there are elsewhere in NZ too.

Academic source with a pretty good search output, for ex.: http://hirc.botanic.hr/fcd/DetaljiFrame.aspx?IdVrste=565 especially with 'Show with taxon' turned on and all it's checkboxes checked.

If translated to English more completely (especially taxon details), could be pretty usable for most of the European countries. Pity.
