OBOD Awen Pendant

Postby Aengus » 27 Sep 2007, 02:41

Greetings all

Im not sure if this post belongs here, but Im sure that our lovely moderators will move it if I am wrong.

Anyhow, Ive been looking at the awen pendant on the OBOD website and am considering purchasing it. The problem is that the picture is so small, I cant get a good enough look at it. Does anyhow own this pendant and If so, could you be so kind as to take a photo of it for me and post it here, so that I may get a good look at it. Thank you all and many blessings!

I bought the original Awen Pendant when I started the Path in 2004. It is circular, silver and quite heavy. It is about 2.5cm diameter. However, I see the new one is diamond shaped. Whilst I can't say anything about the size, if it is anything like the size and quality of the one I wear constantly, it is well worth the money.

I have both. The first one I never take off, however the new (smaller one) I wear only on certain occasions.
If I don't forget, I'll take a good picture of it tomorrow and post it for you.

Thank you for your replys. Its seems as if everyone like the original design better. Is there any way to get ahold of the older design any more?

Somehow I don't see a diamond shape as appropriate, with apologies to Sue. My favorite pendent which is just a disk of slightly convex silver was made over a decade ago and about 1.5 cm in diameter - it was used to make the favicon for Druidry.org.

But I like the pewter ones made by... there was a link in the Druid marketplace, but I cannot find it— damned auto-pruning, I guess:

Kernos' Awen is made by SiusaidhC, an OBOD member in Glasgow. I'm sure if you pm her she'll be happy to tell you more. I prefer an Awen in a circle. I have both the millenium edition of the OBOD Awen, and Siusaidh's pendant. Different, both beautiful.

Hm, perhaps I'll just have to keep wearing my Awen pendant I got from Isaac Bonewits website, neopagan.net
Although I really do like the one above

Here is a pic of the one that I currently own. Thank you everyone for your feed back.

Baobab,

thank you so much for the last link. I have been following this thread to see if anyone could provide a suitable pendant for me.

The 'Awen in Circle Pendant' is absolutely beautiful. I love the ring too. I like the fact that the artist 'Harriet Challis-Jones' lives on Anglesey too - might just have a little extra something to it!

Thank you for the link, it's definately the one for me. Simple - but stunning.

Before I buy one of these, I'd just like to ask.. is there any significance between the awen with the oak leaves on, and the plain awen? Any difference in meaning?

Good question. That makes two of us who would like to know the answer, Morchid.

Well, I actually have a 'plain' Awen pendant, and a 'fancy' Awen pendant. The plain one is the same as Kernos', but I had mine gold plated, because (being a Leo) I prefered the 'sun' color. My recent acquisition is the Oak Woodland Awen, and I love the leaf design, and texture, so it's my favorite. :cloud9:
