In the Druid tradition, each of the great “rites of passage” is marked in the calendar by one of the fire-festivals: death, or Parting, is marked by Samhuinn, 31 October to 2 November, when the old Celtic year ends and there are three days of No-Time before the new year begins. Birth, and consequently Naming, is marked by Imbolc on 1/2 February—the time when the snowdrops appear and we can sense the first stirrings of spring. Mating, the Great Rite of making love, is marked by Bealteinne on 1 May, when the forces of spring are in full flood. Marriage, the formal recognition of having found a long term partner after the explorations of the spring time of one's life, is marked by Lughnasadh on 1 August. My fiancée and I are looking for a seasoned Bard, Ovate or Druid in the southeastern Georgia, US area to preform a marriage ceremony in June of 2012. We are college students, so the least cost the best for us, we will feed you for the night if that's any help
We aren't requiring you to be certified to issue the marriage certificate but we just want someone that has some real understanding of Druidry (and maybe some other spiritual paths too) to lead a small ceremony beneath a beautiful, ancient oak.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

It might be worth writing to the OBOD office as well, this forum is only a subset of OBOD druids
Perhaps ask them to put something in Touchstone?

As a Pagan of the Wiccan tradition, I'd say wear nothing at all - this proviso is in my Will for when I die.
However, the law will eschew this, and non-Pagans, and quite a few Pagans too, will find this unacceptable.
Pagans do not view death as sad - death is the passport to tne Summerlands or to another life. Wear a dark, smart suit or costume, or just ordinary smart kit with a black ribbon.
