less tech stuff:
wand making(on my first wand its been a very eduactional experience i was shown the basics then left to let myself devolop my wand to my liking)
pyrograpy - only the last few minutes found out what this was i used this to put ogham onto my wand

theres heaps i would like to learn blacksmithing silversmithing sewing like to learn to write poetry as i seem to be the only person who cant rhyme would like to learn how to do good storytelling theres heaps more im a sponge i want to learn everything lol

Isn't it wonderful; to be so enthusiastic and involved in your own educational process?
This year I plan to learn how to make chain maille and make some pieces to wear to my historical gatherings.

I'm a passionate quilter. I also bake and make lace. That's it really as once the growing season starts I'm to be found in the garden so I don't get much time to do anything else

I make my own soaps, moisturizing creams, candles, cheese. I make bread from time to time, for special occasions mainly. I took a workshop on beermaking, but I don't have the space at home for it, so it's sleeping for now.

I also learnt pottery. Fantastic experience and I highly reccomend it if you want to start somewhere.

I make my own paint - watercolours and tempera.
What I'd love to learn is the craft of book making. I've actually met someone who possesses to knowledge and the means to do this, so I hope to learn a thing or two really soon!

Well I've just made my first book. I've just started the Bardic course and was looking around for a nice notebook to record all the triads in. I couldn't find one that grabbed me, so I decided to make one myself and followed instructions on the internet. It's got about 100 pages and I covered it in leather look sticky-backed plastic because I couldn't afford real leather. I picked out the awen symbol in gold on the front cover with acrylic paint. It doesn't look half bad actually. There's a lot of help on the internet if you want to learn bookbinding so give it a go. I also customised a journal cover for making notes for the course.

Apart from that I do a lot of painting (acrylics and watercolours), knit and crochet. I like making my own pendulums and make beads from fimo. I also did a bread-making course once and I'm always promising myself I'll start making my own bread. Ooh, and there's the wine-making of course, how could I forget that?

Basic carpentry
Basic woodcarving

Would like to learn:

With more time on hand, I am currently working with bronze clay, and trying my hand at some pointillism....

If I had even more patience, I would really like to sculpt either stone or wood. I saw some amazing driftwood sculptures a while ago.

I've been thinking about taking a cartography class. I'm always fascinated by maps and the like.

I love the book! Very well done.

Do:
green woodwork
(simple) joinery
leatherwork
felting
basic sewing (made a few early medieval outfits, a bit of my outfoor gear)
tanning of hides

Like to learn:
become better at all the above (in particular the tanning, get back into braintan mostly, do some more fur on hides, etc)
naalbindning
clay (I can do really basic stuff, no more)
metalwork (basic forging, etc; blacksmith work for tools and so on)
stone tools (the only knappable stone where I live is some quartz)
basketmaking (done a couple of baskets, want to make more and get better)

I do Pyrography as I find it is a very rewarding craft, so much so that I am part time self- employed in this field. For those who don't know what Pyrography is, it is the art of producing designs etc on wood using heat or flame.
The craft gained huge popularity in victorian times where it went under the title of Poker work. However, for as long as man/woman has been able to place a piece of metal into a fire and then transfer that heat to wood and produce a mark, pyrography has been around for a helluva long time.
Pyrography for me personally combines working with the elements and bringing them together into a finished piece. Earth is the wood I use, Fire is the heat to burn the design, Air is in the smoke produced and Water is in the waterbased varnishes that I use. Oh, and not to forget the spirit from my own creativity that I put into it.
A man cannot plough a field by turning it over in his mind.

Brilliant thread :) .

As a hobby mostly I enjoy drawing landscapes and from life, enjoy watercolours and watercolour pencils. Interested in drawing celtic knotwork, I find it challenging, a bit like sudoko with shapes and spirals! At the moment the craft I would like to learn more about is mask making. :)

I would love to learn how to knit or crotchet. When I was pregnant I got a How-To Knit book but I can't figure it out. Makes me sad as I wanted to knit little booties and such and I couldn't get any farther than one string on the needle before making a mess.

I have started felting in the last year, mostly from fibre but some prefelt work too and I'm booked on short courses for nuno felting and hedgerow basketry in the next few months. Someone also showed me basic crochet stitches recently but I can't say I'm very good or practise much, tho my ambition is to make a blanket!

I don't know if it counts but I also make chutneys, jams, lemon curd and other preserves from what the garden gifts me, I guess the biggest crafting part will be to create nice labels when I get the food hygiene course sorted and am ready to sell things.

I'd love to do pyrography, more basketry, woodworking, spinning & weaving, knitting, dyeing, anything really that someone will show me and patiently sit with me while I make a mess and slowly get to grips with things. I was one of those advised to stick to academic subjects cos I wasn't artistic at school so it's been a revelation to realise I can actually make with my hands.. One day I'll risk painting but I'm not there yet ;)
