Handfasting cloaks

Postby Gaerr » 19 Jan 2011, 18:49

Can anyone help me find some handfasting cloaks for an August wedding. They need to be fairly light as I am hoping it will be hot. I am having great difficulty finding anything on the net and especially for men. Preferably cloaks that are not too long . I would like a pink one but that is probably asking too much!

I made my own full circle cloak when i was in the SCA who have heaps of resources on the subject for making your own stuff. Most of the instructions call for measurements to make floor lenth cloaks but you can make them whatever length you want.

Here are some handy pages with instructions and patterns for cloak making:

http://www.theweebsite.com/sewing/cloaks/circular.html

http://garbindex.com/cloak/patterns.html

http://www.legiodraconis.com/modules.ph ... e&sid=1586 (very detailed instructions)

Hope this is helpful

Thanks everyone for your help. I have made a few robes and cloaks in the past one of which had hares in felt and silk going round the bottom, and if I ever get good enough on teh computer I will put a photo on. However, I want something much nicer than I can make and something very different. I Ivy found Ivy Moon Designs and am very tempted. Many thanks.
