This is a Swiss (biscuit) roll, filled with chocolate (and jam) and coated with chocolate cream frosting.
You cut off the two ends and re-attach them, make the frosting look like bark.... the works.

found some mighty stag and pentagram decorations too!

In France we have the "buche de Noel" and it looks pretty much like yours with all kind of fillings imaginable !
But your idea of cutting the 2 ends and sticking them back that way is great
