Zengarden ministonehenge

Postby ShadowCat » 26 Jan 2013, 12:57

Since I found a little pack of clay in my crafting supplies, left over from runemaking, I've decided to make myself a little indoor Henge. I got inspired by this image:

I was looking at some images to count the stones I need to make, and I found this very handy instruction that I think more folks here will find very useful.

I'll be posting some pics of the finished works too.

The clay was quite old, a bit dried out and very hard to work with, so I've ended up with only five double standing stones with capstones, five smaller standing stones and a little altarstone. They are drying now for a few days. Then I'll gather some earth, moss, plants and build my little tabletop henge.

This is awesome, thank you for sharing. I'm going to pass the idea onto my husband, who recently discovered my box of clay under the sink. He never knew he had a knack for sculpting...he made himself a pyramid and some other Egyptian themed things. He was wondering what to make next...I'll show him this. :)

The good thing is that this takes zero sculpting skills
Here's a pic of the stones drying. The wooden sticks are to keep them upright in the dirt later on. The capstones will be hotglued on when the clay is dry. Or I should say "modeling paste" since it is one of those selfhardening brands.

If you don't have clay, saltdough or sanddough would be fun too

They are dry, I'm waiting for the weather to pick up a bit so that I can make a nice planter on my garden table to put them in. I'll post a pic of the finished thingy.
