Spring Passion

This painting was an incredible exercise in inspiration for me. I started out trying to be photo-realistic, left-brained accurate, but ended up with an anemic flower and a ton of frustration. Finally, I adopted a "screw it!" attitude and started dipping my fingers in the raw paints and mooshing them around. I realized that I didn't want to paint apple blossom, I wanted to paint Spring, in all its vitality. Once I let go of what I thought I should do I was quite pleased with the final results!

Ram-horned Snake

Image

Among celtic iconography there was a motif of ram-horned snake.
The animal is often pictured on gallo-roman sculptures/relief/altars, where it accompanies particular god, or goddess, more rarely a couple.
It is interpreted as a symbol of vitality, fertility, reborn/resurrection. Often around god/dess wrist reaching for fruit or patera.

She is the personification of this mythical creature, of which I have no info about any written sources left.
Her look is part of the dream she appeared.
You gain wisdom by talking with stars,
but to see them you need deep dark.
