Not seen this before? You have to live somewhere chalky. Sometimes the ground is wet and stays just above freezing but the air is below freezing. The water from the ground is sucked up by the chalk and freezes on the top of it, then a bit more, and more, and very rarely you get an upward growing icicle like this. Cool huh?

If it will ever be spring and we get rid of the snow , we hope, that they come back. Probably they will occupy our cellar foyer again.
("Foyer" for a cellar, I never believe this is the right translation... )
