A nosy question about emoticons

Postby Dair Ciúin » 12 Jul 2005, 13:35

Greetings Admins!

I'm just wondering where you get the emoticons here from (such as :) and  ), as the standard phpBB ones are... simple, to say the least.

Thanks,
Ithilas

Hi, Ithilas.
Not sure where :) comes from but  is one of Yahoo's, as is :-) and :o , among others. Many of the animated ones, such as :hiya: :where:  :warm: :fence: etc. are from Fool's House. And I've found quite a few at Andrea und Steffen's Homepage and Emoticons 4 U. Kernos added the  |-) type ones, as well as many others, but I don't know where he found them. And some are homemade, from other artwork that we reduced and web-optimized. If you're looking for more sources, google for emoticons or smilies and you'll find several thousand sites that neither of us have ever seen before, I'm sure!

Ah, thank you, Selene!

My Forest Realm community will hopefully be a little more lively with these yellow, circular wee folk!

Another good source is the downloads page at http://www.phpBB.com (which is where this board came from).

Blessings,
Steve.

Thanks UrbanDruid,

I had a good look through the main phpBB site when I originally downloaded my board... I've built up a large a collection of emoticons from those links Selene provided, since then.

I also tried installing a couple of mod's, which ended up destroying the contents of my entire database and required me to re-start from scratch. Note to self - always make backups!

Of course, DC, with your artistic talents, exp with Poser, the best source would be your hands... Make your own. Many of ours are home made.
