New Forum for Druid Drowsing

Postby Stefan » 02 Jan 2006, 14:27

An idea came to me that since there is a like College of Healing if there couldn't be like a College of Drowsing. We could create a list of targets to search for and have people turn in their time of drowsing and their results and we could see what the results were. We could have people from around the world dowsing for the same thing from looking for oil to trying to locate a missing person or predict natural disaster just for all own purposes/study.

Police Departments hire or ask for psyhic help many times hoping for a new lead. I just thought this could help us study with dowsing and maybe help the world also. We can have info/resource information about dowsing also and a forum for target lists and findings.

If College of Dowsing isn't a good name or idea then just opening up a new forum on this would be great. I'm certainly not one of the wisest as compared to Donata and others, but I would be glad to moderate the forum and do the best I can.

Seconded.

Dowsing runs in my family, with past relatives who were well diggers, so this idea is of great interest.

I can't help it! the  made me do it....
 forum for "Drowsing"!!! sorry guys ;) :???:
it will be well populated..... students in boring classes, people in boring meetings, on and on....
I love it!

OK,seriously, and hoping I didn't step on any toes, (apologies if I did), there are a couple of sites I highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn about dowsing:

http://www.dowsers.org/ main site for American Society of Dowsers.

http://www.lettertorobin.org/ good course on learning to dowse. It covers all dowsing tools. It includes basic charts which are helpful.

http://www.crystalinks.com/dowsing.html
several helpful charts and explanation of pendulum use.

There's an active thead on dowsing in the Druidcraft forum if anyone wants to jump in.

Donata - *groan* - that was awful! *giggle*

And to add to your site list:

http://dowsers.info/toronto/toronto.htm and http://www.canadiandowsers.org, both excellent sites.

Stefan - IMO, we don't yet have the participant base on this board to satisfy having a forum all to ourselves but I think your intent is admirable. Please be careful. Dowsing is a personal and highly subjective modality.

Hi Thailand,

Yes, the TO Dowsers are an active group! I met some of them last year when they came to the WNY area for a couple of great workshops on dowsing with Sig Lonergren and Patrick McManaway (sp?).

Stefan,
I think it might be premature to open a new forum to dowsing unless there is a larger demand for it than it appears at the moment. We can keep the idea open, however, and I will consider setting it up as a private, hidden forum that requires people to ask to be admitted.

The reason for that is that the board has so many forums now that some people are intimidated by its sheer apparent size. It is my opinion that having specialized forums is a good thing, because it lets users more easily find the topic areas they are most interested in. But I am also trying to strike a balance that will keep the board from being overwhelming to newcomers and yet retain its utility for the experienced members.

What I am really hoping for is that one day we may be able to create subforums. There is a modification for the message board software that would allow this, but Kernos has not yet been able to get it to function with all the specialized tweaks that have already been added here. However, if we ever do get the subforums mod up and running, then I think a dowsing subforum, probably under the Druidcraft forum, would be a very good idea.

Let's see how things develop and how many express interest here.

Blessings,
Selene

How about a compromise then? A forum for divination that would include Tarot/Runes/Dowsing etc?

Yeah, the Tarot could certainly find a home there! (Awaits brick-bats  ) But Runes and Dowsing? Never!

Hi folks,

Divination is already a function of the Druidcraft forum.

Dowsing is not a form of divination. It's an art and study all its own. Dowsing doesn't predict the future - it can show what is, now, not what will happen. It is very useful for this. Dowsing can easily be discussed in the Druidcraft forum, or in a sub-forum, or in a separate forum, depending on the level of interest.

When, for example, someone dowses to find out the gender of an unborn child, that's not predicting a future outcome - it's answering what is already the gender of the child. Thus, it's not a predictor, and therefore, not divination even tho some put it there.

Divination shows what is now, and uses current patterns to predict likely outcomes.
Tarot and runes are valuable ways to discover current patterns in one's life - and likely outcomes of those patterns. It doesn't predict the future, just shows probable outcomes if current patterns continue. We always have free will which allows us to conscously change patterns in our life. Self knowledge is IMO the main purpose of divination, so that we can make informed choices in our lives.

Astrology isn't really divination either - it is similar to divination methods as it also works with current patterns in one's life, based on placement of the stars, and thus can outline the likely ongoing results in one's life.

I was really meaning divination as the process of divining in a broad sence, be it water divining with rods or pendulum, or divining the future with misc other techniques.
I agree that the Druid Craft board already does this, maybe what is really needed is to highlight this so its more apparent.
I propose that divining be added to the description of this board...

Thanks to Selene, we've just added Dowsing to the topics included in the Druidcraft forum. Please contribute to it!

The U.K. base is quite close to my home. It's in Malvern, Worcestershire. http://www.britishdowsers.org

I also have to admit that I didn't believe Dowsing to have anything to do with Divination.

Hi RedKite,

IMO dowsing isn't really divination, in the sense that most consider divination a form of fortelling the future. Dowsing doesn't do that. It is great for anwering 'yes' -'no' questions, or for showing percentages of whatever you're dowsing for - could be gallons of water in a well, or % of a vitamin or supplement you may need, etc.
I often use it to check the accuracy of a tarot reading.
I use it to clear, and to verify that I did clear my chakras regularly.
I use it to bless my water, to remove harmful qualities in it, etc.

Check out our dowsing thread in Druidcraft Forum!

Thanks Donata

I may have to check the water here before very long. The water board are planning to add Fluoride to our water - another lethal poison to make us all buy more chemical medicines and keep the drug companies profits up.
