How about a section where new members and old members can introduce themselves and give a short bio, and what they might expect from the board?

Hahaha, it's sometimes a bit tricky...

Perhaps the registration-validation e-mail could include a link to it..
The Pub is always a good place to start!

Yes. However, I do like the seperate sections in bardic and such, much more viewable, so I would still prefer one in The Pub as well, just a thought...
