Organization Is Formed Around Perception, Needs, Resources

Postby Corvin » 06 Nov 2008, 16:47

Greetings: Thanks to all past and present for your time in the creation and management of this space. This suggestion is made not merely around my desires or to create more work, please consider it.

In our practice and depending on where we are in our journey some of us are pagans, some are not. People believe what they do according to their desire, capability, experience, and what they are willing to consider. Perhaps, the great potential offered in OBOD is because of its tolerance and flexibility to let people grow and change as they believe. Some may view this as a sticking point or problem to Druidry in the future. I do not think it so if some (not all) infrastructure grows and changes with the diversity of membership. Tolerance, Moderation, Study, Reflection, Debate, these are good things. We do live in the modern world, and we can learn from ancient ways. My sense is that it might be helpful if a group was formed on the board for those who are more inclined towards the sacred unity of things. Not all of us identify as pagans. The problem might be what you term it however. How does one define unity? This is now in your hands...

Hoping to be of service.

Hi Corvin.

If there is enough of an interest for any particular subject (ie: tarot, dowsing, welsh etc.) or enough of an interest by a particular group of people (ie: Druid Christians etc.), the Administration is open providing a forum or subforum if appropriate. What exactly are you proposing?

Thank you for your prompt response. Specifically, if and when it works, if there is an area (a group on the board) for those of us merely recognizing a "universal order" of a sort. I would not say I am a mono-theist necessarily.

Why not open a thread somewhere to see if anyone is interested and to get ideas of how to name it, Corvin. I see by your join date that you have only been with us for a short while, so perhaps no one has ever thought of having such a forum.

You might want to outline your vision of exactly what the group is and is not. I think that some definition would be in order before asking the admins to set up a forum. What would you discuss in this forum that you wouldn't discuss on the rest of the board? Come to some terms of whether it should be private or public, and if it's private, what constitutes membership?

In my thoughts, the more "groups" we have, the more separatist we become. If you are looking for Unity, do you really want to do something to separate yourselves out? My own opinion is that the word "universal" has its own problems, but that should be for another discussion. That's just my two cents.
Light,

Jingle

Just a thought

Thanks Jingle. Good points. I was not intending to be a separatist for unity though :) It is just that much here is pagan this, pagan that, pagan, pagan, pagan. Not for a moment that any of this is is wrong. This is not at all what I am saying. Perhaps on speaking of this it was too soon. It was just a thought.

No matter, thank you all the same. Tired now, enough time here today.

How does one define unity?

Perhaps as a web.
Though the OBOD is an order, based on it's own roots, it has grown far past that.
Thus the questions of many views.

if there is an area (a group on the board) for those of us merely recognizing a "universal order" of a sort.

The common quest can be such a place (forum).

Indeed, as is Discuss Druidry perhaps.

In one sense, i may have spoke too soon. In another, i have still seen some attempt for language based definitions/categorization of "pagan/non-pagan", or a kind of regionalism as to what is "Druidic", "Celtic", ect.
i like history and try to learn from it. However, my approach also involves personal practice, as well, different language and geography. Having said that, i do also like those who come here and add historic and cultural aspects from the past. Even though this is not my area, i appreciate the work and contribution of others in this regard. Also see it as quite good also.
