Hi Forestwalker! :-D

Actually there is a channel set up for us to chat on. It's http://chat.kernunnos.com/ . Try that, you may have to download something like i did to use it but it wasn't a problem....the only problem is trying to be on there when anyone else is around!! Everybody has such different schedules & time zones you have to kind of go there & hang around til hopefull someone else shows up. or predetermine a time with others.

Hope this helps :mracorn:

Just a reminder this chat is still up and running! http://chat.kernunnos.com/ for instructions.

I tend to be in there when I can, I am in Aotearoa, New Zealand so I'm way out of whack for most of the world for time - but there are a few of us that manage to connect up and we would love some more.

So - private message me if you need support to get there and please come chat!! Its so much fun. If you do go into the room, try to hang around for a bit of time to open up the chances of someone joining you - that way we can slowly grow an active community.

There's a wealth of IRC chat servers out there most of which have improved significantly over the last few years. There are however some that suffer from questionable reliability. Two popular chat clients (MIRC and PIRCH) are freeware available and easily configured. The trick is selecting a reliable server.

The only snag with chat on a personal server is that it does take a fair amount of resources to support.

In general though, a chat area is not a bad idea. I suspect it would be used almost constantly with our folks scattered to the four winds as they are.

YEah I wish - I hang out there when I can, usually alone but always in the hope of visitors :) I use mIRC cos I always have, and the server we are using - irc.afternet.org seems really reliable - we have had some neat gatherings there but I guess people get distracted and forget. I also belong to the long-standing rooms found on DalNet.

Hope some people will start dropping by more...
