Invalid session.

Postby EarthWard » 19 Dec 2004, 18:28

Just to let you know I have been trying to PM some of you but it keeps telling me Invalid session when I do. I was able to PM Selene once and she told me it was most likely AOL so I'll try again later from a different server. Of course I was not able to PM or email her to tell her thanks. Is anybody else having trouble with this or is it just me and my AOHELL?!?!

Anyone who uses AOL as their ISP may have problems with invalid_sessions and staying logged in. This occurs because their IP address may change during a session.

The only viable workaround is to use a different ISP. That does not mean you have to give up AOL.

Okay. What exactly is an ISP? Sorry I know that should be an easy one but I have no idea or how to begin to use a different one.
And then, why is it that I can post, but not PM? I would think it would be about the same thing. Plus I didn't have this problem too much before I left so why now?
And last. Are you sure this is not just your attempt to make us not have AOL because it is owned by Time-Warner? Um-hum. Admit it I'm on to you. I should be using EarthLink right? Is that what you are trying to say? Because I'm sure EarthLink would work just fine.
Damn you druids and your conservative, anti-corporate, recycling views.
I'm not letting go of my AOL. Nobody has as many different types of smiley faces as AOL does.

You found us out EW! Not only have we made it incompatible with AOL, we are working hard to make it incompatible with Microsoft products - You'll have to use OS X, UNIX or LINUX :)

ISP - is your Internet Service Provider.

That which provides you with a connection to the Internet.

Earthlink is not a bad choice - in fact it has the only toll free phone number I can use in my location which is the main reason I use it.

You can keep AOL and still use a different ISP to dial in (or cable in or DSL in). I keep an AOL account to test the website in their browser.

EarthWard,
ISP = Internet Service Provider. You can Google or check your phone book for ISPs that operate in your area. I don't know much about AOL, but from what I understand, you can use their browser and other features even if someone else provides the actual Internet connection. I know people who have cable modems whose email addresses end in @aol.com.

I wouldn't dream of trying to convince you to leave your beloved AOHELL, as you termed it earlier!

Hey EW,

I'm not on AOL but I do sometimes get "timed out". I don't know if it's the same thing as you or not but what I usually do is, if I know I've been sitting on the same screen for a long time I copy my entire message to the clipboard before hitting preview or submit. Then if it comes up invalid session I can just open a new message and paste it back in. The second time always goes through for me. Dunno if this helps or not.

Good luck.

Nay it has nothing to do with timing out even though I know what you are talking about. Its just says Invailed session over and over again.
Peace,
