A Cautionary Happy Earthday

Postby seabhac star » 22 Apr 2011, 19:41

Hello everyone, and happy Earth Day! Today , where I live, The natural gas companies are really trying to compell folks to let them drill on "their" land, Offering thousands of dollars per acre to lease that land for drilling. As you have probably heard, they are employing a controversial method of drilling using chemicals and fracturing (known as hydaulic Fracturing) That has the potential to harm ground water. There have been several of these operations taking place around here. With the ecconomy in the state that it's in, it seems like the perfect time for these companies to make these cash offers. I've seen this same strategy employed in timber removal. WE DO NOT OWN THIS EARTH. WE CANNOT SELL WHAT WE DO NOT OWN. This earth is a heritage to ALL people human or OTHERWISE. What are your thoughts on rights for the environment? Certainly as it benefits from this proposed protection, so shall we. Here are some addresses to checkout: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_fracturing
