I am truly impressed by everyones widespread abilities !

Myself, I play the accordion (chromatic, e.g. looking like a tipped-over piano) and the guitar, though that only in strumming mode.
I love the accordion, because it leaves your mouth free to sing, and you have a rhythm section and melodies, all in one large and heavy chunk (like myself  )

Her veil will Nature never let you steal,
And what she will not to your mind reveal,
You will not wrest from her with levers and with screws.

I would love my bro' to get an accordian... he almost did... then we could all sing and I not hide behind my guitar.... if ever you fancy coming up to Awen Oak's Grove in Warwickshire to join us at our celebrations you may come... with your accordian :shake: :)

I can recommend Sean Jones's bagpipes, they are beautiful sounding and looking, plus easy to play and maintain thanks to plastic reeds.

No I didn't know about that one, thank you! We have always wanted to go to Saint Chartier for the festival there, partly for the music but mostly because it has many of Europes best instrument makers. (http://saintchartier.org/)If we ever manage to go we'll try to go to Aubigny sur Nere in the same trip.

All those bagpipes! :cloud9:

Good idea : There's 135 KM between Saint-Chatrier and Aubigny sur Nere : a journey of 1 hour and 40 minutes.

others days, Aubigny is really a quiet place with no noises or sound : imagine a village of the centre of France  ...but these days of parade, it's really "full of celtic music" and you've reason :it's SO LOUD    !!!

Greetings,

Keyboards, guitar, have-mandolin-still-working-on-it, lyre. Flute and percussion all through school. Morbid obsession with lyrics (saying this because my voice leaves more than a bit to be desired).

Peace,
Elsdyr

I play guitar....mostly electric. Ive been playing for 2 years and Im getting fairly good. I play mostly melodic metal (In Flames, Kalmah, Children of Bodom, Wintersun), and dapple in folk metal (which Im sure which some of these bands you would be familiar with...Turisas, Eluveitie, Ensiferum) so yeah and Ill play anything whatever sounds good to me

My equipment....
-Jackson Dinky DKMGT Black Forest
-Marshall MG Series Half Stack
-Various Classical guitars lol
-Rogue Acoustic
-RP350 Multi-effects pedal (qewl :o )
-Various stomp boxes

Ive always wanted to play a folk instrument such as flute, Irish Whistle, bagpipe.....but there is no way I could do that here, theres no one to teach me :-( so I have to stick with guitar. But I like it enough to stay with it for my life.

The joy of most folk instruments is that you can teach yourself. Tin whistle is a good first step, because its the same fingering as Irish flute and some bagpipes.

I have a Bodhran, but I can't claim to be able to ply it, I bang it quite well though :)

I have also just bought a harp, and am HOPING I can manage to get something resembling music from it with some hard practising! Any hints and tips will be gratefully received!
