Is this a bit monotonous?

Hello - I have written a folk tune meant for dance/ceilidh purposes inspired by the sounds of my local river (and river dragon spirit - also posted on the multimedia/art forum http://urbanshamanism.files.wordpress.c ... merged.jpg)

I am wondering now if it repeats itself too much. It has an AABB structure like a folk tune, but there is repetition within the A and B sections as well. I wanted this to get the ripple effect of the river, but not to hammer people into boredom.

What do other Bards think?

Not monotonous at all. I very much enjoyed listening and would be very happy for the piece to continue for at least twice the existing length. If you are really worried about monotony (and I assure you you have no need to), all I would suggest is to have a bodrum player join you once or twice during the course of the performance. The differing texture in the music it would provide would keep the audience interested.

You are definitely a very accomplished flute player.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I can probably spice up the tune with a bit of ornamentation if I need to. I plan to record it outside, beside the river for my next project.
