Harp Music

Postby Emma Alicia » 02 May 2012, 21:40

Hi all,

I've been playing the harp for a few months now, and I love it. However, because I'm living in France at the moment, I haven't really had the chance to get my teeth stuck into any really beautiful British folk. My harp teacher gives me hymns and Breton music to play, which is beautiful but I'd like to try something from home!
Does anyone know of any good websites or anything for free sheet music? Or does anyone have any other musical recommendations?
I play a 34 string lever/Celtic harp.

Warmest wishes,

Emma

A quick search on Amazon led me to: :where:

http://eu.harp.com

They seem to have some sheet music for lever harp, include some folk of Celtic origin.

Just had a quick look, and now dint know what to order!

Thanks for the link to this site!

Some books have trad Welsh tunes that I'm quite keen on, but others have the finger arrangements which are invaluable to a novice like me.

Hmmm, going to treat myself, I think!

Thanks again. :D

Glad to be of help :yay:

I'm new to my instrument too (guitar.) I understand how important two things are:

  • something interesting to work towards, and
  • autotuners

Not to mention an understanding spouse...

:D ha ha

I'm always a bit envious of guitar players, my spouse plays the bass, and when he sits down to play he has a mere handful of strings to sort out. I sit down to play and I have to tune 34 strings! When I first got my harp it took me about half an hour! Luckily I am a bit quicker now!

Fèis Rois is a good resource for Scottish harp music. They have a few harpists on staff who have published some amazing material in the last couple of years, and it is not too difficult. You can find stuff via their website.

Good luck!
