Druidry and LEGO Challenge

Postby Frog » 01 Dec 2011, 16:30

I had a crack at building the Monument that sits at the top of the Glastonbury Tor. It isn't exact and I won't claim it to be for several reasons:
1. I don't have enough grey/stone bricks to get the colour right
2. I don't have enough slope bricks to get all the windows in the right places
3. I nearly exhausted my Black bricks in building this!

However it stands about 11 inches (28cm) tall and about 4 inches (10cm) square (not exact).

I reckon that as Lego has been the most popular construction toy on the planet (and it's only now since the patent expired that we are seeing so many similar block building toys) I'm going to guess that a high percentage of OBOD members has a box or two lying around. So come on - what can you build?

Frog
That is fantastic! I've not been to the Tor yet so it looks perfect to me :D
My son is now 23 so his Legos have long since been given away. I never thought I would need them again but now I wish I had them. Maybe I'll ask for some for Christmas.
So, what is the Druid in the foreground holding in his hand? Could it be a cup of mead?

I compared this to the photos I took during my trip to Glastonbury in September http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffreykeefer/sets/72157627625876541/, and think you creation is just wonderful!

A box or 2?!

We have a whole loft-full

Might have to have a play around and see what I can come up with.

Love the monument though :applause:

Hello everyone! Thanks for the very positive replies!

Novastar - that is a very impressive loft.. and I must admit that I am a little jealous!

Susanne - the chap in the foreground is my tourist - the thing in his hand is a camera! And gave away Lego... shudder!

Mountainheart - before we moved house I was asked to put the lego away, but I had a few moments to try and build Stonehenge: http://www.flickr.com/photos/frog101/se ... 866094364/

I'm not wholly happy with the stones - they're a little too narrow really for me (I suspect I need to build them sideways to get the subtleties of depth) and I didn't have enough bricks to make the Blue stones... well, blue... Looking at the pictures on Novastars collection he might have, but it would probably take down half the district to do so!

Blessings!
