Help for Pippa please

My little 4 year old terrier has been ill since last December when following a lot of itching and scratching, the vet discovered she had allergic conjunctivitis. This was resolved with eye drops, etc. However, since then her skin condition has worsened and she developed more than a dozen hard lumps [quite large in size] all over her body. Her fur has fallen out and her skin is red and inflamed. The vet prescribed prednisolone for a couple of weeks together with antihistamine tabs. As soon as the medication finished, the condition started up again.
She eats hypo-allergenic white fish and potato all in one food. This was changed about a year ago from chicken and brown rice as I thought she might have a food allergy - always an itchy dog! I bought a new vacuum cleaner especially designed to help with dust mites and wash her cotton bedding weekly.
Last week, under anaesthetic, our vet took 4 samples of the lumps for biopsy, a blood sample for allergies, skin scrape for parasites, bacterial swab and a hair pluck for fungi.
She is currently on antibiotics as our vet thought the skin lesions looked infected.

I would feel truly blessed if some healing thoughts could be sent to her. Thank you

check with your vet if the skin eruptions could be caused by superinfection with staphylococcus.

It might also be worth asking your vet if oil of evening primrose may be of help.

Oh Blyth, healing thoughts for Pippa and blessings of a clear mind, understanding, intuition and resolution for both you and your vet!
Is it commercial, pre-made food you feed her? Have you thought of trying fasting for a day or so to clean her system and then trying the BARF diet? Many dogs with allergies and inflammation are so much happier and healthier this way.

SonicRed: - Yes, she is on a commercial all in one food made by a small family firm. I have read the link you gave with interest. I hadn't thought of trying her with fasting for a couple of days followed by the BARF diet. It is certainly something I shall think about.

The vet should have some of the results by the end of the week as she marked the samples as urgent so finger's crossed we find an answer.

Our vet telephoned yesterday and she said that nothing "nasty" had been found in the biopsies or other tests. However, she said to continue with antibiotics, etc. until we see her next Monday. It looks as though the nasty lumps were an allergic reaction to something - but what, she doesn't yet know. It looks as though we may be referred to a dermatologist next week but I am just so glad the lumps were not malignant as I feared.

That is good news Blyth, allergic reactions can be nasty and it is often quite difficult to find the cause but I hope it won't take too long to find the cause of Pippa's problem.

Pippa has been diagnosed as having sterile pyogranulomatous syndrome by the skin specialist. I have googled the net to find out as much info as I can. She has recently had a further outbreak of pustules [more than ever before] and the medication prescribed "Atopica" is giving her so many side effects that we are loath to continue with it. We have had numerous other tests carried out by the vet to eliminate causes but so far without any success.
Has anyone had experience of a dog with this condition please? I believe I can also get a referral to a homeopathic vet. I wonder if this would work?
She is only 4 years old so we want to do the very best we can for her.

I was sorry to read your update on Pippa but at least you now have a diagnosis to work with. I don't know anything about this condition but as you have found the internet can be a good place to find information. I also think that a veterinary referral to a homeopathic vet may be worth a try given the side effects with the prescribed treatment - anything that may help is worth exploring and there is no harm in asking. Will continue to send Pippa some healing energy.
