And Twig, to baffle you even further, we were talking before about a mighty sport called darts. I don't know if you have it. There was an incredible show here called Bullseye a couple of decades ago that was a quiz show based on the game of darts. It was an institution.

Now HERE, for the British R0wdies is Peter Kay's take on Bullseye.

Twig will not understand one single solitary word of this, but I post it to give her some idea of what Bardolino sounds like if you ever meet him.

[Forgive me, Bardolino.]

Oops! I've just realised that the link I posted there contained profanity unsuitable to the open board, so I've removed it. [If you want to laugh anyway put Bullseye and Peter Kay into youtube.]

r0WDY Beard Match sponsored by Izel

A thrilling game this afternoon at a packed stadium with both sides up to strength , The scoring was opened by Midfield general Beith with a neat lob in the opening minutes, seconds later the No-Beards raced to the otherend of the field and Lancastrian stiker Boabab missed an open goal . From the kick Neeltje jinked round the No-Beards defence and slotted home to make it 2-0 to the Beards , to the cries of 'easy easy ' from the home fans , however with a few seconds to go to half time Boabab made it 2-1 with a volley , and , minutes later , hapless full-back Wintersundog sliced a clearance into his own net passed keeper Pangurban to make it 2-2 at half time.

The second half began with Texan left-winger Twig racing down the touchline , beat two defenders and send a shot just passed the post . This was the No-Beards last attack , as Frenn , using some nifty footwork somehow found the back of the net with a shot from the half-way line , and with 20 minutes to go The Beards center forward Aylyn scored from a penalty after being fouled by the No-Beards , to the cries of 'just because your losing' from the home fans .

Final score

Beards : 4
No Beards : 2

I am not sure about a return match with the Irish you have rough tough games like hurling  Reminds me of that wonderful Guiness advert from a few years back

Ah dear old Brian Johnston you really need to hear the radio broadcast that came from, after he said it there was a pause then a giggle and then another then helpless laughter. One of lifes true gentlemen.

How about we really confuse Twig and start a discusion about cricket

Ah Pangur Bán...not up for a "clash of the ash"?! I think Twig and others may be confused by the term "hurling" (this is not the throwing-your-guts-up form of 'hurling'...although a belt from a camán in the nether-regions will pretty much cause that!)

Wintersundog. You're on.

Spectacular vs Sensible shoes- 11 aside

I have already have the contents of "Beith's Impractical Shoe Emporium" in my line up:

Sequinned purple diving flippers
Sparkly leopard print sneakers
Feathered Desert Boots
Sling-back Rainbow toned Wellies
yellow patent house slippers
Stilleto-heeled flip-flops
Slapper-boots in a range of colours (can't be worn on Fridays or any religious festival - this is a Catholic country!)
orange suede brothel-creepers
Mules (with braying sound effect)
7 inch Porn-heels
Cat-sick mustard clod-hoppers ( I see Baobab has the sod-hopper-au-naturel variety above)

and in reserve...DRAG QUEEN SHOES (to level the playing field so you men can wear appropriate foot appareil: http://www.drag-queen.com/Merchant2/mer ... y_Code=SBE

CAN YOU BEAT THAT!!!

i am up for the slapper boots, they would go well with my mini skirt or hotpants. :D

i went to a party like that once, strange getting leered at by all the men. :-|
