A slapper is a derogatory term for a woman with slightly less than pristine morals, but since the advent of Grrrl Power and similar increases in freedoms that women allow themselves, the word slapper has come to be reclaimed as a term of respect for a sister who, being a girl, just wants to have fun. :D

For example, in any given town on any given night you may hear one of England's young roses turn to her friend and say, "Come on, you slapper, get your **** in that frock and let's get out on the trap."

BTW, WSD, you counted those beard votes too quickly. I was still mulling over my choice. After considerable ponderation, I have decided to vote No Beard. I realize that this is not a popular choice. However, I think that you have an extraordinarily handsome face that should be shown off. Especially wearing a nice pair of slapper boots...

I guess "slapper" would be somewhat equal to "ho" here in the US, then? That is one word I'd sure like to know the origin of! :boggle: Is a trap the same as a flat?

Neeltje -- I love those shoes! My kind of "sensible." Yes, purple would be a great choice.

I went shopping for shoes the other day (a daunting task as I've got them skinny feet), and the lady next to me was trying on platforms. No kidding! They're making a comeback -- along with those horrible bad-acid-trip colors. I should've kept all of that stuff...

Hi, beautiful Twiglet.

Is a trap the same as a flat?

Nope, absolutely not. To go on the trap with somebody means... well, let's say me and you went on the trap; that would mean, in the baldest possible sense, that we were out on the town, looking for two likely men [ :-) :-) :-) that's likely, isn't it?] to spend the night with.

I got into trouble once when I suggested to Ghostrider that me and he should go on the trap together. He thought I was propositioning him. :-) He said, "Well, stranger things have hapenned." :-) :-) :-)

Here we are speaking the same language... not!

Wey hey. The underdogs are coming up from down under. :-|
