Hello everyone. My name is Melanie. I just began studying the Bardic grade and am loving every word. I feel better in touch with myself than I ever have in my life, and I'm only a couple of weeks in. I cannot put into words how comforting it is to know I am not alone in this world. I was really begining to wonder! Anyway, I am located just outside of Richmond, VA. I am married with two step-children, both boys. I am coming up on my 33rd birthday in May. Thank you so much I have found such openness and acceptance here, I feel be lucky to have found this place. Greetings, I just thought I would pop in and introduce myself. I am from Montgomery, Alabama and at a point in my life that I know who I am but I don't know "WHO I AM" I'm sure that will make sense to you all. Anyway, to tell you a little about myself I was raised Southern Baptist and about a year ago went through a life changing experience. While I still cling to most of my Christian beliefs I discovered that spiritually I was lost thus prompting me for what has now been a year long search. I have been tracing back my family ancestry (O'Kelley's) which led me to the Celtic Christian faith and now to here. I have asked to join the Christian Druid user group so I am looking forward to talking with people with like minds and souls as I have yet to find any groups in my area. If anyone can offer some guidance I would welcome it with an open heart and mind.

I'll add myself to the introductions, as I am new to the boards.

My name is Gale, and I live in Fairfield, Iowa, in the central USA. (Fairfield is home of the Maharishi University, founded by the Maharishi Yogi Mahesh, the Beatles' guru back in the old days.) With all the hundreds of folks meditating at the domes, Fairfield is a very unusual small town for Iowa,--perhaps it's unusual for most anywhere! I'm not associated with the TM movement, but it makes the town very liberal and creative, and it's close to my elderly mother, so it's great for me.

I live in a little cabin on three acres of woods outside town. My companions are three tiny dogs, a lot of books, the trees and the wildlife.

I'm an Ovate. I have studied and practiced shamanism and done tarot readings professionally for about eight years. (I'm 59 years old.) I'm also an artist and writer. I have a small art gallery of my personal work in Fairfield, and my writing these days focuses on spirituality, mostly of the earth variety!

I came across the pond last summer for the Glastonbury gathering, and then on to Wales with my mentor. I love Britain, and I'd love to come back every year, but it's so expensive! Especially with the exchange rate like it is!

Greetings all!

I thought I should finally stop lurking about reading things and actually introduce myself.
I'm Sarah, I'm 26 years old and I live in the state of Pennsylvania in the USA. I grew up in a rural area with all the joys of nature and the forest at my disposal. I've been browsing the boards and the website here since October, just haven't posted yet. I recently received my introductory gwersi and, just as I thought, OBOD is just the thing I've been searching for for quite some time now. I've always believed in the spirits of nature and the sacredness of all living things, so really, finding this organization was, like coming home for me.

We have a very diverse and active spiritual community nearby at the Mesa Creative Arts Center, which mainly focuses on a blending of Eastern and Native American teachings and ceremony. We celebrate the solstices, equinoxes, and every full moon, but in a Native American ceremonial style. My husband is walking a shamanic, Native American path and enjoys having this active community to participate in. Despite the fact that I am very close with many of the people at the Mesa, I've been lonely. Not lonely for company, but for like mindedness. While so much of the two traditions are very similar, I've felt drawn specifically to the Celtic, Druidic way of life and tradition. I have a very strong Irish heritage and perhaps part of the attraction for me is a way to reconnect with the traditions of my ancestors.

I was delighted to find this community and after having simply devoured every bit of literature in the introductory package, I've enrolled in the full Bardic course. Even though I know it probably just shipped out today, I've been keeping an eagle-eye on the mail box.

Ok... I've gone on enough... off to post to some other topics!

Hello everyone,

My name is James, and I live in Florida. I originally joined O.B.O.D. as a Bard back in 1994 and completed the Ovate Grade in 1996. I was inactive for a while, but came back and repeated the Bardic grade. (The Order did not require it; I had lost my original gwersi and wanted to retrace my steps as a type of spiritual renewal.) When I was here in 2004-2006, I was known as Drui na Samhna. For the past year or so, I had been delving into the Welsh side of my family tree and was using the name Iago ap Gruffydd II. Now I am back to using the name Drui na Samhna once more, and I am once again focussing on the Irish branch of Celtic mythology and tradition. I used to be a Revivalist or Mesopagan Druid, but I have become more of a Neopagan. I am now a polytheist rather than a monotheist. In the past I used to see Druidry as a spiritual path or magical order, but it has become my religion. I work with a triad of Irish deities: the Daghda, the Morrigu, and Lugh.
